M.I.D.O.R. Lyrics

Yo I fuck with this beat so heavy
That shit just hit your chest like
Like ba ba ba
Uh
Yeah
Got me looking
Both ways on this drive to them better days
No this not a come up I was made for a better place
Built different just like these women from around the way
I don't mean the forty when I say that they be running things
Grab ahold
This rush game is gold
My hand would never fold
The separate item that's sold
My life live it in bold
Seeing me when you scroll
I might kick it with Doj
Lemme know we can go out
Make it look like a tornado hit my whole house
I ain't finna clean it so let's finish up at yours now
Well a man can dream can't he
Isn't that called manifestation
Got me looking
Both ways on this drive to them better days
No this not a come up I was made for a better place
Built different just like these women from around the way
I don't mean the forty when I say that they be running things
I'm eating
Fast done I'm feening
But damn this comp unseasoned
Like shorts out when it's freezing
The pessimism in greetings
Niggas hoping and pleading
Their wishful thinking misleading
As long as my heart is beating like
I'll never fall
They gone bump my music long after I'm gone
Have them parties shaking like niggas having withdrawals
Then I'll bury the crown
Nah I ain't passing it off
Paper chasing ain't the point your the brawl
If that's your drive in time you'll stall
Pen to paper I been writing back when I was probably four feet tall
Back when I ain't have no money involved
I ain't even have the honeys involved
Nah I was killing them softly
Daily feud in my mind no Steve Harvey
Learned to be my biggest fan now it's part me
Talking to my self like damn yo this is hard b
I'm at ease
And now I'm mounting the beast
Nah I ain't like I was sounding
Till I founded my peace
Know there's niggas that's surrounding
Tryna hound ya release
The Gold Rush
It's the crowing disease
And that got me looking
Both ways on this drive to them better days
No this not a come up I was made for a better place
Built different just like these women from around the way
I don't mean the forty when I say that they be running things
Looking
Both ways on this drive to them better days
No this not a come up I was made for a better place
Built different just like these women from around the way
I don't mean the forty when I say that they be running things
Niggas fold nowadays it's a must
Gun you down for some things that are lush
Get played by the people trust
In the end
That's the Gold Rush

Overall Meaning

In M.I.D.O.R.'s song "Gold Rush," the opening lines set the tone for a passionate and reflective exploration of ambition and desire. The artist expresses a strong connection with the beat, suggesting that the music resonates deeply with him. This connection is likened to a physical impact that reverberates within him—like a "ba ba ba"—indicating the beat's power to evoke strong emotions. The artist contrasts his current situation with his aspirations, using the metaphor of driving towards "better days." This notion implies a journey not merely towards fame or success but toward a more fulfilling existence. He is aware that his path is not a typical rise to success; rather, it's rooted in a destined calling for a "better place,” highlighting the theme of predetermined greatness.

The song examines the artist's identity and the influences of his environment, particularly emphasizing strength and resilience. He draws inspiration from "women from around the way," noting their capability and leadership. By mentioning their prowess without referring to negative stereotypes often associated with struggle, M.I.D.O.R. elevates their significance and underscores the theme of empowerment. The phrase "grab ahold" suggests the urgency in seizing opportunities as they arise. The imagery of a "gold rush" symbolizes not just a pursuit of wealth but a passionate chase filled with vigor. This notion of chasing success becomes more than mere ambition; it transforms into a steadfast commitment to refuse to buckle under pressure, represented by his hand never folding.

As the lyrics progress, a change in the artist's outlook emerges, indicating introspection and self-realization. He describes a stark contrast between his aspirations and the superficiality around him. The assertion that "this comp unseasoned" reveals frustration towards the lack of authenticity in his competition. Here, the artist grapples with the pervasive negativity and misguided hopes that surround him. This duality of experience—the highs of ambition tempered by the lows of pessimism—conveys a struggle that resonates universally. Despite these challenges, he maintains a belief in his music's enduring impact, implying that true artistry transcends mortality ("they gone bump my music long after I'm gone"). This note brings a sense of hope and suggests that one's true legacy lies in the authenticity of their art rather than mere commercial success.

In the concluding verses, M.I.D.O.R. confronts the darker side of ambition, highlighting the societal pressures that lead people to act against their better judgment. The line "niggas fold nowadays it’s a must" speaks to a culture of betrayal and mistrust where people may compromise their principles for material gain. By pointing out how some are willing to resort to violence and deception for wealth, he critiques the pitfalls of the "gold rush" mentality that can lead individuals astray. The juxtaposition of this harsh reality with his personal journey signifies an ongoing battle between maintaining a genuine sense of self and the allure of quick gains. Ultimately, “Gold Rush” serves as both a personal narrative and a broader commentary, urging listeners to consider the costs of their ambitions and the importance of remaining true to oneself amidst external pressures.

Thanks Lazyman! Plenty of feedback there which is great!

I'm trying to keep the videos to 2-3 minutes each but will see if I can squeeze some extra details about the drink history and where it comes from..

I think the tasting is something important - I've got an extra person helping me to film the videos which should make things a little easier. By myself meant a lot of extra moving of cameras, set up, etc. It's a lot of work surprisingly! I've already got 7-8 videos pre-filmed as I have a crazy week with work so will start tastings after those ones :)

Re: millilitres, that's a good point especially considering that the majority of viewers and subscribers are from the US. Will have to adjust accordingly.

Thanks again! Really appreciate you taking the time to leave some pointers! Cheers!

u could taste the drink and tell us how it tastes. this might make us make it as we would know if it was sweet sour, what comes through the most, etc.       love the vids !!!!!! keep It going!

@StevetheBartender_

Good point! Definitely something I'm keen on doing. I'll probably tasting once I get a second camera otherwise it's a bit more fiddling around (stop filming, remove the camera from the tripod, take photos, set up camera and film again)..for now I'm trying to keep it as simple as possible as it takes a total of approx. 2 hours per day (filming, editing, posting)..
It's tough work! ;)

Once I get to the end, I plan on putting a book together of the top 100 or similar =)

@vuvuzelaasesina7690

Thanks for the straight to the point video. Would be nice to see a closeup if the cocktail. Cheers

@trzynasty909

Now that's a blast from the past!

A little odd as far as glassware goes though, the description mentions a collins, you use a double OF and I myself think it's best suited for a stemmed cocktail glass!

Always fun to see more of you, Steve, cheers!

@DecoratingCakes31

Love your videos! As I want to start getting into cocktail making, it would be nice to see a sort of 'starter kit' of which essential equipment and staple spirits to have! Thanks!

@StevetheBartender_

Thanks for the suggestion... tips, techniques and tutorials are all on the list of videos to do :-)

@stevenr8157

Def gonna try this. So it's basically a Bee's Knees with Bourbon rather than Gin.

@StevetheBartender_

Yep! It’s delicious!

@TheMWC11

Just keep it up with what you're doing! Love the videos!

@StevetheBartender_
