Say the Words
M.I.D.O.R. Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I wanted more
I wanted to believe
So I'll take what's mine and hold it close to me, so you can see

I'll take my time
Drink away the memories
I'll take what's mine and hold it close to me, so you can see
Spinning in circles (spinning in circles)
Keep our feet on the ground

So just say the words
And we'll be on our way
Another mistake, a price to pay
I wanted to tell you, but you were nowhere to be found
I'm just a pauper king without a crown

And the love we had before
Is a kingdom that's worth fighting for
We're spinning in circles
With our feet on the ground

Just say the words
Just say the words

Just say the words
And we'll be on our way
Another mistake, a price to pay
I wanted to tell you, but you were nowhere to be found
I'm just a pauper king without a crown
I'm just a pauper king without a...

Just say the words
And we'll be on our way
Another mistake, a price to pay
I wanted to tell you, but you were nowhere to be found
I'm just a pauper king without a crown
I'm just a pauper king without a crown

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to M.I.D.O.R.'s song "Say the Words" appear to be about a person's desire to hold onto something they believe is worth fighting for. The opening lines indicate a desire for more and a want to believe, which suggests that the singer is lacking something and is looking to fill that void with something substantial. They then state that they will take what's theirs and hold it close, almost as a statement of determination, and so that others can see what is important to them.

The chorus, "just say the words and we'll be on our way", appears to be the singer pleading with someone else to take action, as they are unable to do so themselves. This may be due to a lack of communication or the absence of the other person. They mention wanting to tell them something, but they were nowhere to be found, which suggests distance, both emotionally and physically between the two. The final lines of the song, "I'm just a pauper king without a crown", may be the singer acknowledging their own vulnerability and uncertainty in their position, despite their determination.

Overall, the lyrics convey a sense of longing and determination, as well as uncertainty and vulnerability.

Thank you.

@LaylaSpellwind

Strangely, in the UK it's typically pronounced Mid oo ree. Doesn't surprise me that we'd get it wrong. XD

I always resisted that - it didn't seem right. Glad we were right all along.
