The Noose
M.J.K. (A Perfect Circle) Lyrics

Than write a bunch of songs
But I got a different blessing
I ain't saying shit wrong
In this life, you get what you give
The man I once knew
It's about time that I forgive
Letting go is easy
Got to forgive
Shits prickly like throwing darts
Merky.M I'm steady with the pen
And everyday I learn
This hunger makes me yearn
Yeah for better days
I'm trying to love mine
But I'm froze
Don't come my way
I can't go for smiles
I'm done with random lays
Gotta be true to myself
Cos I'm there to stay
Your ass is poison
Addicted to the pain
To the pain that you caused me
Now I'm jaded fucking on my side
Shit be boring
This ain't no love, this is a damn lie
It's okay to give up nigga
At least your ass tried
This ain't no love my nigga
A damn lie
It's okay to give up my nigga
At least your ass tried
Throw it all away than to live a damn lie
When I'm burning these bridges
Makes me feel so alive
Noose loose, it's getting untied
But I'm still hanging
Still hanging
Still hanging with my guys
Throw it all away than to live a damn lie
When I'm burning these bridges
Makes me feel so alive
Noose loose, it's getting untied
But I'm still hanging
Still hanging
Still hanging with my guys
Throw it all away than to live a damn lie
When I'm burning these bridges
Makes me feel so alive
Noose loose, it's getting untied
But I'm still hanging
Still hanging
Still hanging with my guys
The song "The Noose" by A Perfect Circle appears to be an apology or plea for redemption by the subject of the song, who is seemingly addressing someone who has overcome their demons and is now reborn before everyone. The song's first verse describes the singer’s relief at seeing the person and how they have overcome their struggles, and mentions that it was with the help of heaven that they were able to cast their demons out. The next verse then shifts focus to the singer's curiosity about the person's plans to make amends to the dead, which may suggest that the person did something terrible that resulted in harm to others.
The chorus expresses the singer's continued curiosity about the person's plan for redemption as their halo, a symbol of purity and innocence, is slipping down. The last line of the song, "To choke you now," may be interpreted as a warning that if the person does not act quickly to make amends, they may end up back in the grips of their past demons. Overall, the song seems to suggest that although redemption and rebirth are possible, it is not achieved merely by overcoming one's demons but also making amends for past wrongs.

I would love to hear it, but he could never do that scream justice again. In The Grudge it works because there's so much more going on around the scream that it being less intense isn't so noticeable. Here, I just don't think it would feel right. I also wasn't much of a fan when they did Hooker With a Penis in '22. They had fun, but I don't like the sound of the megaphone. I'm glad I got to see them play it, but I'd rather see them do a song that they can all nail the way it deserves.
