It is a difficult task to deliver a sequence of musical sounds and speech in precise rhythm

The task of delivering musical speech and sounds in strict rhythm is fraught with many difficulties and challenges

I met this little girlie, her hair was kinda curly
I got acquainted with this female person, with slightly curvy hair

Went to her house and bust her out, I had to leave real early
I accompanied this individual to her residence and left soon afterwards

These girls are really sleazy, all they just say is please me
These women are disreputable and promiscuous, as their primary expectation is around pleasing them

Or spend some time and rock a rhyme, I said "It's not that easy"
They expect me to spend time performing, but it is not an effortless task

In New York the people talk and try to make us rhyme
Individuals residing in New York are talkative and frequently attempt to cause us to perform musical speech and sound in the correct tempo

They truly try to urge us to play music, but we do not pay any attention as we are occupied with other preoccupations

It is unfortunate that in this urban environment, we cannot remain unseen by others

Having car windows coated with dark pigmentation is not useful, as others can identify us by our distinct musical style and persona

When I wake up, people take up mostly all of my time
Upon arising from my sleep, individuals consume a significant amount of my time

I'm not singin', phone keep ringin' 'cause I make up a rhyme
I am not engaging in vocal melody, however, my phone continues to ring as I am constantly creating musical speech and sounds

I'm not braggin', people naggin' 'cause they think I'm a star
I do not boast or show off, however, others frequently bother me because they view me as a celebrity

Always tearin' what I'm wearin', I think they're goin' too far
Others are continuously critiquing my choice of garments, I opine they are being overly critical

A girl named Carol follows Daryll every gig we play
A girl going by the name Carol follows Daryll everywhere we perform

Then D dissed her and dismissed her, now she's jockin' Jay
Daryll heaped disrespect upon Carol and kicked her to the curb, presently she is now pursuing Jay

I ain't lyin', girls be cryin' 'cause I'm on TV
I am honest when I say, that young ladies are weepy due to my exposure on the television screen

They even bother my poor father 'cause he's down with me
They are even disturbing my father who is in the same likeness as I am

We are not thugs (we don't use drugs) but you assume (on your own)
We are not aggressive or violent, meaning we do not ingest narcotics, however, you hold a view based entirely on your own prejudgments

They offer coke (and lots of dope) but we just leave it alone
They present us with the drug substance known as cocaine or other controlled substances, but we refuse their generous offers

It's like that y'all (y'all), but we don't quit
This is just how we exist, but we are continuous in our dedication with no plans to cease or stop performing

You keep on, rock, shock 'cause this is it
