My Heart
M.ono & Luvless Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

The kids have a new take
A new take on faith
Pick up the pieces
Get carried away
I came home to a city half erased
I came home to face what we faced
This place needs me here to start
This place is the beat of my heart

Oh my heart
Oh my heart
(Oh my heart)
Oh my heart
Oh my heart
(Oh my heart)

The storm didn't kill me
The government changed
Hear the answer call
Hear the song rearranged
Hear the tress, the ghosts and the buildings sing
With the wisdom to reconcile this thing
It's sweet and it's sad and it's true
How it doesn't look bitter on you

Oh my heart
Oh my heart
(Oh my heart)
Oh my heart
Oh my heart
(Oh my heart)

Mother and father
I stand beside you
The good of this world
Might help see me through
This place needs me here to start
This place is the beat of my heart

Oh my heart
Oh my heart
(Oh my heart)
Oh my heart
Oh my heart
(Oh my heart)

Oh my heart
Oh my heart
(Oh my heart)
Oh my heart

Oh my heart
(Oh my heart)

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to M.ono & Luvless's song "My Heart" speak to the need to find hope and purpose in a world that has been shaken by chaos and uncertainty. The opening lines suggest a sense of renewal as the kids have a new take on faith, which could refer to a new perspective on life and their place in it. The phrase "pick up the pieces, get carried away" is a call to action to move forward with hope and purpose, despite the obstacles that may have been encountered along the way.

The second verse talks about coming home to a city that has been half-erased, which could represent a world that has been destroyed by natural disasters or political unrest. The singer acknowledges the need to face what they faced and start again, as this place is the beat of their heart, meaning that their identity and sense of belonging are rooted in this place.

The chorus reflects on the resilience of the human spirit in the face of adversity. Despite the storm that didn't kill them, the government changing, and the song being rearranged, there is still hope to be found in the singing of the trees, ghosts, and buildings. The singer acknowledges the bittersweet nature of these experiences, but ultimately finds comfort in the fact that they don't look bitter on them.

The final verse is a personal message to the singer's mother and father, expressing a desire to stand beside them and find strength in the good that exists in the world. Ultimately, this place needs the singer to start and continue to be the beat of their heart. The song ends with a repetition of the chorus, emphasizing the importance of resilience, hope, and finding purpose in the face of adversity.

@bizzwoofer

this is actually a SUCCESSFUL attempt at incorporating instruments like piano into a house or electronic music track. May are very UN successful and mostly it sounds weird, out of place or terrible, throwing off the tempo or feel of the track. However, luvless does this extremely well, keeping the flow in tact and transitioning piece to piece. Awesome.
