It is composed of well-known songwriter and record producer Nasri Atweh on lead vocals and Mark Pellizzer, Alex Tanas and Ben Spivak. In 2013, they released their debut single, "Rude" that reached number one in the United States, number two in Australia and New Zealand and number six in Canada. MAGIC! is featured on Shakira's self-titled album on the track entitled "Cut Me Deep", released in March 2014. Other recordings on their upcoming debut album include "No Way No", "No Evil", "Don't Kill the Magic", "Mama Didn't Raise No Fool" and "Let Your Hair Down". The band is signed to Sony Music Entertainment and is also partnered with Latium Entertainment in addition to RCA Records in the USA.

All members of the band are originally from the Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The lead singer of MAGIC!, Nasri, had been working with and writing songs for different pop acts prior to the start of the band. He had met Mark Pelli in the studio and within a week they had written the song "Don't Judge Me" for Chris Brown. Nasri described the chemistry between himself and Pelli as "different than writing chemistry, it was more artistic." A few weeks later, while Mark played a reggae tune on the guitar, Nasri suggested to start a band like "modern-day Police. 2012

I live in Canada. MAGIC! is a Canadian band. I remember when I first heard "Rude" on the radio, back in the January of February of 2014. The song became too mainstream during the summer of 2014, and anything that reaches the American market will be heavily criticized no matter how good it may be. This song, which hasn't yet reached mainstream audiences in America, in my opinion, is much better than Rude. If this song does end up hitting the top 10 in America, it'll probably receive just as much criticism as Rude, even if it doesn't deserve it. I'm kind of hoping that this song doesn't grow big because then it'll spawn hatred. So what do you think, guys? Is MAGIC! a one-hit wonder band or is "Don't Kill the Magic" going to be their big follow-up to "Rude?"

As far as I know "Don't Kill the Magic" was released as a single, but not worldwide and because of this it's not so popular. I heard "Rude" for the first time in the end of July, bought the album and since then I've been listening mostly to their songs and I can honestly say I love them all. "Let Your Hair Down" will be the next official single, the video should be out next month. They said in a recent interview that it will be considered a success if it gets half as popular as "Rude". The lyric and the audio only video have almost 2 million views (combined) in a little over a month, people seem to like it. It's being played on the radio, but only in the Toronto area for now (at least that's what Canadian fans say). I don't think they will be a one-hit-wonder and one-album band, because they are already working on their second album. Next year they are going to be on Maroon 5's world tour and perform at Madison Square Garden and Wembley Arena. If they were some random band, I don't think they would have been given such an amazing opportunity.

For one thing the music is pretty simple and basic with the same rhythm and chords over and over through the sound. The lyrics also aren't very great, repeating the same thing over and over again. No talent in writing that song, or this one either for that matter.

Well, "Rude" in itself was a fluke in managing to cross over to the US. Usually, Canadian artists tend to remain hits in their own country and that's pretty much it, outstanding exceptions excluded of course ("Call Me Maybe" comes to mind). In any case, the other hits those artists produce don't catch on as fast or as well as that breakthrough in the US. ("Good Time", to build on the example, only got big thanks to the collaboration) Nevertheless, I could see this building success, perhaps in the winter months and reaching the 30s of the Hot 100.

Well I won't call them a one hit wonder. However I must say the competition in the music industry is very intense. Its much more difficult to stay at the top than reaching the top. This separates good & great artists. Everyday new talented bands are coming up. No wonder many artists take to cheap publicity stunts or show of skin to garner more views.

Both this and Rude deserve to be heavily played on US pop radio. I appreciate the modern pop feel with the healthy nod to the Police (which the band publicly acknowledges). I do Rude in my cover band and it lights up the dance floor immediately. This song would do the same if it got more airplay! Solid harmonies, electronic elements without being overproduced, fantastic mixing, and this singer has a very distinctive voice. Magic! definitely is onto something with this sound, and I really hope this ends up being a single here in the US!
