All members of the band are originally from the Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The lead singer of MAGIC!, Nasri, had been working with and writing songs for different pop acts prior to the start of the band. He had met Mark Pelli in the studio and within a week they had written the song "Don't Judge Me" for Chris Brown. Nasri described the chemistry between himself and Pelli as "different than writing chemistry, it was more artistic." A few weeks later, while Mark played a reggae tune on the guitar, Nasri suggested to start a band like "modern-day Police. 2012

If I couldn't be here no more
Follow the line
Fall in behind
But Iβm sure
Half the time
Iβll find the light on
βCause if itβs real love
Oh, real love, yeah
Everythingβs just fine
What would I do
If I didnβt need you no more
So follow the signs
One at a time
But Iβm surely
Out my mind
But itβs right on
βCause if itβs real love
Weβll find the time
Oh, real love, yeah
Everythingβs just fine
Everythingβs just fine
Everythingβs just fine
Everythingβs
Everythingβs just fine
Everything
Every little
Every little thingβs just fine
Just fine
Just fine
Just fine
Just fine
Everything is fine, fine
(Everybodyβs looking for the, uh,
Too good to be true kind of love, right?
We all are, always)
In "I Would," MAGIC! presents a contemplation of the complex emotions that come alongside true love. The song is about the potential loss of a partner, one that you truly love. The song starts with a question: "What would you do if I couldn't be here no more?" The lyrics then discuss the possibility of finding light in the darkness of a relationship and finding the time for each other through thick and thin. Lead singer Nasri's vocals are particularly emotive as he repeats the phrase "Everything's just fine," both as a reassurance and as a meditation to himself.
The lyrics in "I Would" start on a vulnerable note, but the song eventually sinks into a comfortable groove. The repeated chorus lines, complete with a catchy hook, soothe any insecurities present in the first verse. As the song progresses, the idea becomes more concrete that the relationship has its ups and downs but ultimately rests on a bedrock of love. Consequently, Magic! turn "I Would" into a mood-lifting track for romantic contemplation. The band takes "I Would"'s initial distress and turns it into a moment of solace.
