All members of the band are originally from the Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The lead singer of MAGIC!, Nasri, had been working with and writing songs for different pop acts prior to the start of the band. He had met Mark Pelli in the studio and within a week they had written the song "Don't Judge Me" for Chris Brown. Nasri described the chemistry between himself and Pelli as "different than writing chemistry, it was more artistic." A few weeks later, while Mark played a reggae tune on the guitar, Nasri suggested to start a band like "modern-day Police. 2012

De-ah-boom-boom-boom-boom
De-ah-boom-boom-boom
De-ah-boom-boom-boom-boom
De-ah-boom-boom-boom-boom
De-ah-boom-boom-boom
There she goes, there she goes, there she goes
There's nothing better than my beautiful woman
Even though, even though, even though
It's not always effort, we still fly together
To me you are more than just skin and bones.
You are elegance and freedom and everything I know
So come on and
Baby let your hair down
Let me run my fingers through it
We can be ourselves now
Go ahead, be foolish
No one's on the clock now
Lying in this simple moment
You don't gotta worry now
Just let your hair down
De-ah-boom-boom-boom-boom
De-ah-boom-boom-boom-boom
De-ah-boom-boom-boom
(Woah) Tell me when, tell me when, tell me when
When I can steal, a sweet kiss right from you
I'm diving in, I'm diving in, I'm diving in
The water's warm right here, here
To me you are more than just skin and bones.
You are elegance and freedom and everything I know
So come on and
Baby let your hair down
Let me run my fingers through it
We can be ourselves now
Go ahead, be foolish
No one's on the clock now
Lying in this simple moment
You don't gotta worry now
Just let your hair down
Baby let your hair down
Let me run my fingers through it
We can be ourselves now
Go ahead, be foolish
No one's on the clock now
Lying in this simple moment
You don't gotta worry now
Just let your hair down
You don't gotta worry, yeah, oh
Let your hair down
Woah, oh, oh, oh
It's only us here, only us here, only us here
It's only us here, only us here, only us here
It's only us here, it's only us here, it's only us here
Ooh
Ooh
The opening of MAGIC!’s hit song Let Your Hair Down immediately draws listeners in with its catchy beat and repetitive “de-ah-boom” refrains. The rest of the lyrics continue on this uplifting note, celebrating the beauty and freedom of a particular woman in the singer’s life.
The first verse describes the woman as “more than just skin and bones,” highlighting her “elegance and freedom” and how she represents everything the singer knows. This is further emphasized in the chorus, where the singer encourages her to let loose and be herself completely. The lyrics suggest that they can escape from the stresses of the world, if only for a moment, through their connection to each other.
The second verse continues to build on this idea, using the metaphor of “diving in” to describe the singer’s desire to be close to the woman. The water is warm, the moment is simple, and they have each other—what more could they need? The final refrain echoes this sentiment: “It’s only us here, it’s only us here, it’s only us here.” In other words, the rest of the world doesn’t matter; what matters is the bond between the two of them.
Overall, Let Your Hair Down is a tribute to the freedom and joy that can come from being close to another person. The woman in question is portrayed as strong, beautiful, and full of life, which inspires the singer to embrace that same idea and let his own hair down.
