How is it possible - 7 years after being initially shared with the world - only 111000 folks have witnessed this wonderful Art- the World is deprived

"From Kinshasa" is a groundbreaking album in every sense of the word. Want to just sit and listen to music? "From Kinshasa". Want to dance like its a rave? "From Kinshasa".

"From Kinshasa" is hands down my most exciting musical discovery since the 1990's. It is so eclectic: Congolese, Post Punk, Cuban, Industrial, Samba, Synth, Dub, etc.....and seamlessly (SEAMLESSLY) woven into a new sound. No band before Devo sounded anything like Devo. Same for Mbongwana Star. This album has a tonal and textural complexity that I've never heard before. It is a vast sonic landscape, familiar and otherworldly at the same time. This sound is not from the continent of Africa. It is a signal received from Planet Congo of the Africa Nebula.

Listening to this album on anything without DEEP bass is like trying to watch "Avatar 3D" on an Apple watch. Please use a full-range audiophile system or quality earbuds/headphones. Forget MP3. Lossless only. This album is a demo dream. Play this if you sell audiophile gear and want to move those $80,000 speakers. "From Kinshasa" is a deep and complex cityscape of sound. The images, particularly the vocals, are tightly anchored in 3D space. Some of the outside imaging (left of the left speaker, right of the right speaker) is near-field and downright spooky. The sonic background is vanta black.

Louis Armstrong was once asked what was his favorite kind of music. He said there are only two kinds: Good and Bad. Mbongwana Star is far on the good side; the sound of intense and soulful musical talent. They sound so "right". And the studio went to "11" in capturing this rightness. It keeps getting even better with repeat listenings. Coco Ngabali, Theo Nzonza, and Liam Farrell nailed it.
