One of MC Solaar's first claims to fame was the rap he did on a level one French language education tape: "Comment t'appelles-tu?".
MC Solaar's first single, Bouge de là, was a French hit in 1990 that went platinum, as was his first album, Qui Sème le Vent Récolte le Tempo. His second album, Prose Combat, may be his most acclaimed.
As a rapper MC Solaar is known for the complexity and poetry of his songs, which rely on wordplay, lyricism, and philosophical inquiry. The music is based on dance rhythms and sensual grooves. In the English-speaking world, Solaar was signed by London acid jazz label Talkin' Loud and invited to record with British group Urban Species and Guru, a member of the famous and highly-acclaimed New York group Gang Starr.
MC Solaar gained new fans in North America in early 2004, when his 2001 song La Belle Et Le Bad Boy was featured on the final episode of the popular television series Sex and the City. MC Solaar remains best-known outside of France for his work on Guru's Jazzmatazz project and as a guest rapper on the Missy Elliott track All N My Grill. Out of Guru and Solaar's collaboration, the single Le Bien, Le Mal (The Good, The Bad) was a popular Hip Hop/Dance crossover hit receiving playtime on MTV.

The lyrics to MC Solaar's "Qui sème le vent récolte le tempo" are a celebration of music and rhythm. The song begins with a breakbeat that flows over the radio waves and into the singer's veins, turning him into a "strange phenomenon" attuned to the music's cadence. The wind rises, and the singer realizes that his karma follows the tempo that leads him to Nirvana. He's enchanted by the spell of the rhythm, and he exalts in the beauty of his body as it moves effortlessly to the beat.
The second verse features the rapper speaking more directly about his skill as an MC. He describes himself as "the commando of the phrase" and the "torero lexical," ready to battle anyone who stands in his way. The tempo is king in this arena, and he controls it with ease. The rapper then name-checks a variety of musical styles, from rock to salsa to reggae, all of which have found their way into hip-hop. He ends the verse with a call-to-action: Come to the rap party and listen to the "rap liquor" that makes people happy.
The final verse offers a more reflective tone. Solaar muses on the relationship between time and money, and wonders whether money really makes people happy or unhappy. He doesn't offer a definitive answer but instead suggests that what's essential is to be "at the height" of one's own potential. The song ends as it began, with a celebration of rhythm and the power of the wind to scatter seeds that take root and grow.

I’m a Radiohead
This is classic French Hip-Hop, I love Jazz Hip-Hop and MC Solaar is one of the greats. I remember my French teacher when I was like 11 in the UK having a poster of MC Solaar on her wall next to a poster of Amelie the film. The sound of “Que Seme Le Vent Recolte Le Tempo” is iconic. ♥️

@Diego Love For sure, she was also extremely beautiful. Looked like Audrey Tautou, I’m pretty sure she actually played me Mc Solaar one time in class, back in the days when people still used CD players. Seems like forever now, I definitely miss the early 2000’s, if I could I would go back there and stay.
