There's a place I'd like to go somewhere out west,
I want to visit a place in the western part of the country, and although I don't have a specific destination, the pictures make it look beautiful.

It's not specific, and the pictures show it best.
I can't pinpoint the exact place I want to go, but I have an idea in my head that is made clearer by looking at pictures.

I know there's trees I know there's sand and I know there's grass,
I imagine this place to have a mix of trees, sand, and grass.

I know it's somewhere in the past.
This place may not even exist anymore, and it feels like a memory from the past.

There's a girl out there who's lookin for it too,
There is someone else who shares the same desire as me to find this place.

She's not sure when she'll go or exactly what she'll do.
Just like me, she doesn't know when she will go, or what she will do when she gets there.

If I am doomed am I the first on or the last?
I wonder if I am destined to live my life without ever finding this place, and if so, am I the only one or have others also been unsuccessful?

Am I just someone from the past?
I question whether I am just a person from the past who longs for something that doesn't exist anymore.

No one has to hear, the sound of people laughing at their fear, and the ocean and sun are always there, to make you happy if you're feeling scared of the darkness.
I find comfort in nature, because it is always there and can provide happiness even in the darkest of times. I also don't want others to hear me when I'm afraid or being laughed at.

If I ever saw a ghost it'd change the way I think.
Encountering a ghost would change my perspective on life and make me reevaluate what I believe in.

I wouldn't gasp for air if ever I did sink.
If something were to knock me down or hurt me, I wouldn't react with shock and would instead take it as a learning experience to move forward from.

I wouldn't struggle, I'd just let it all out fast,
Instead of wasting time struggling, I would quickly express my thoughts and feelings, without hesitation or fear.

And then start living in the past.
I would try to avoid thinking about the present, and instead reminisce about the past.

If we hold the hand that rapes the hand,
If we associate ourselves with those who commit evil deeds, we are just as guilty.

And everyone can feel the hand,
The effects of these wrongful actions are felt by everyone, not just those directly involved.

And nothing's gonna change,
Without actively trying to fix the situation, nothing will ever improve.

It could be the time we're living in,
Perhaps the current era is to blame for these issues and we need to find a way to overcome them.

We'll never feel so safe again,
After experiencing something traumatic or harmful, we will never regain our sense of safety and the world will always seem more dangerous.

But love always remains
Despite all of the violence and negativity in the world, love will forever exist and provide a glimmer of hope for the future.
