When I open up my eyes
Don't know who caused this riot
Don't care for the reason why (no)
All my life, I've looked for answers
Is it worth a try?
As the sound of evil's slipping
Through my doorway step tonight
It goes (ah) ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Come, baby, let's get dark
It goes ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Show me into your heart
'Cause I care about that
I just want true romance
True romance, true romance
I just want true romance
Young blood, come and take me for a dance
True romance
All I know is that I wanna grow to be a queen someday
Don't know how to get there
But I pray the streets won't lead me astray
I say (ah) ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Come, baby, let's get light
We say, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Show me how to be right
'Cause I care about that
I just want true romance
True romance, true romance
I just want true romance
Young blood, come and take me for a dance
True romance
Ooh, baby, I know that you care
I know that you care for me
Don't let the fear eat me alive, oh
Come on, baby, I know that it's hard
I know that it's hard to see
But I can be a good girl if you help me
I just want true romance
True romance, true romance
I just want true romance
Young blood, come and take me for a dance
True romance
True romance (oh, oh, oh)
True romance
In MO's song "True," she speaks about a desire for a genuine romantic relationship that is not superficial. The opening lines of the song, "All I see is trouble when I open up my eyes, don't know who caused this riot, don't care for the reason why," paint a picture of the singer living in a tumultuous world where nothing seems to make sense. MO's quest for answers has always been a part of her life, and she wonders if pursuing true romance is worth the effort. She admits that the sound of evil is creeping into her life.
The chorus of the song, "I just want true romance, young blood, come and take me for a dance," showcases that MO is looking for love that is deeper and not just a fling or a casual hookup. She wants someone who will take care of her and help her grow. The bridge of the song, "Ooh, baby, I know that you care, I know that you care for me, don't let the fear eat me alive, oh, come on, baby, I know that it's hard, I know that it's hard to see, but I can be a good girl if you help me," expresses her vulnerability in wanting to be in a relationship, while she also lets her partner know that she is willing to do her part and make things work.
Overall, MO's song "True" is an expression of her desire for true love and a meaningful relationship that goes beyond the superficial. She acknowledges that it will take work to achieve, but she is willing to put in the effort to make it happen.
