Sabiá
MPB-4 & Quarteto Em Cy Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Vou deitar a sombra de uma palmeira
Que já não há
Colher a flor, que já não dá
E algum amor
Talvez possa espantar
As noites que eu não queria
E anunciar o dia
The song Sabiá by MPB-4 & Quarteto Em Cy revolves around the theme of returning to a place that's significant to the person and finding solace in it. The persona in the song has a deep longing to return to a place where they can find peace and happiness. The first stanza talks about the person's desire to go back to a place where they can enjoy the shade of a palm tree and find a flower that no longer blooms. The person is also hopeful that they might find love that can dispel the nights they didn't wish for and bring in the day.
The second stanza talks about the person's myriad of attempts to forget this place and move on, but nothing seems to work. The person tried to deceive themselves to find comfort and even tried to find themselves by getting lost in the roads. Nevertheless, they never managed to forget the place entirely. The persona, in the third stanza, seems to have a newfound contentment within themselves. They believe that they have found love and that they will return to that place to stay for good. They also strongly feel that the loneliness that haunted them will soon fade away, and they will be greeted by the melodious chirping of the Sabiá bird.
