Here are two of the many concrete reasons why this is impossible:
1. Ep 108 - Gideon goes to see Tyrell at E Corp, then immediately travels to the AllSafe offices, sees Elliot, and doesn't recognize them as the same person.
2. Ep 110 - Tyrell's assistant at E Corp meets Elliot and does not recognize him.

If this is supposed to be true, this show is a lot more poorly made than I gave it credit for.

As for the evidence in this video, Joanna starts the mysterious scene by saying to the Mastermind, "Can I help you?" which is an odd thing for a wife to say to the alter in her husband's body without hearing him speak, even if he is wearing a hoodie. Tyrell is indeed in the inner world hallucinations the Mastermind is having, but so are Angela and Qwerty, and we're not saying they're alters. The deleted scene can be explained by the fact he's making a joke about Elliot's DID, but it also might have been deleted to avoid this confusion not just keep it a mystery.

What this video is saying is that the original Elliot left New Jersey, moved to Sweden, learned Swedish to the level of a native, married a wealthy heiress, moved back to New York, and rose up the executive ranks at E Corp to become high enough to be interim CTO. At the same time, the mastermind is getting a job at AllSafe, feeding a fish in Chinatown, doing a lot of morphine, and somehow never being recognized by people who knew both Wellick and Alderson.

Interesting theory, but as many have pointed out, there are too many things that contradict it to make this theory viable.
1. When Tyrell is first introduced, he is talking with E Corp execs. Other coworkers would have noticed if he was talking to himself. You managed to write off one scene with the other executives at the round table as a delusion - which is a stretch within itself - but you would also have to do that with every other interaction between Tyrell and Elliot that is front of a third-party. There are too many to be able to feasibly disclaim.

2. On that note, there are so many instances where Tyrell and Elliot interact in front of a third-party. The two of them arguing while in a cab. The Dark Army soldier shooting in both directions from the crashed van. We would have to suspend disbelief that those onlookers would just ignore the distinction every time.

3. Elliot would not have been able to hold two full-time jobs, one as an exec at E Corp and the other as a security engineer at Allsafe (all while routinely on morphine, no less). Moreover, it would be impossible for Elliot to have made any progress on the fsociety mischief if he were in prison.

4. Gideon Goddard meets with Tyrell at his E Corp office. If he were one and the same as Elliot, he would have commented.

5. Moreover, for an entire season, Tyrell Wellick was the most wanted man in the world. And yet, at the same time, Elliot walked in the city openly, interacting with many people. Fernando Vera, Krista, Ray Henworth, and so many other characters didn't notice that they were talking to Tyrell?????

5. When Joanna's fixer, Mr. Sutherland, goes with Elliot to his apartment to help him "find Tyrell", he doesn't at all question that Tyrell is right there. Also, when at his apartment, he talks to Elliot about "the Wellicks" as his favorite clientele.

6. Tyrell mentions that the only English his dad knew was the Red Wheelbarrow poem. Obviously, Mr. Robot knew more than that. There is also no evidence that Mr. Robot was ever an immigrant.

7. On that note, where did Elliot grow up? Suburban New Jersey, or Sweden? If it's Sweden, why doesn't Darlene know a different language? Did Angela grow up in Sweden too, and if so, does she know Swedish? Why doesn't Joanna ever talk to Angela or Darlene, or vice-versa???

8.. Detective Pierro shows Darlene the FBI board filled with photos and lines. Tyrell Wellick and Elliot Alderson are two separate photos on the board. Because Elliot is not part of that scene, there is no reason to suggest that this was a delusion.

9. It would be difficult to explain the phone conversations had between Elliot and Tyrell. Did Elliot have two phones on his person at all times...and he never noticed?

10. The Blue Screen of Death theory in the 404 episode would have made the story stop at Tyrell's death...and yet, he continues to interact with Darlene, Whiterose, and many others after that episode. Explaining this point away with a "time travel" theory goes beyond suspension of disbelief and jumps the shark.

11. If Elliot shot himself to prevent himself from stopping Stage 2, then who called 911 to save him? To be clear: Elliot was, in fact, shocked, since afterwards a surgical team is there working on a body, overseen by Irving who saw the blood on the floor. And if Irving knew that Elliot/Tyrell had DID, he would've stayed there or had a dark army soldier supervise him, instead of handing an unstable guy a gun for protection.

12. Giving credence to a deleted scene is backwards logic. It was deleted because it does not fit into the canonical story. Also, it appeared that all three actors laughed at the line, suggesting that it was not a real line and instead a joke between the actors and outside the story itself.

Valiant attempt at stirring up controversy, but in the end, I have to conclude that this theory is utter trash. Sorry for the reality check.

I think its just the fact that they both suffered similar child hood trauma from their fathers, and personality wise life trajectory wise are complete opposites.

One cares deeply about his status, and what others think of him, and in reality despises everyone around him but would never say it (Tyrell).

The other puts on the facade of fsociety, doesnt care about his status, or what other people think of him, but in reality he really wishes the best for humanity and has a deep longing to be loved. (Elliot).

They see things in each other that they can relate to, that they envy, and even things that they hate because they see them in themselves.

Tyrell is definitely important to the MR ROBOT story.

Intriguing but can’t actually work, if you watch the show carefully there are many reasons why this theory can’t work:

Gideon calls who we think is Elliot by “Elliot” and not “Tyrell”, yet he didn’t know Elliot before so this doesn’t aligns with the “changing identity after trauma theory”

FBI has both Tyrell’s and Elliot’s pictures on the wall as different pictures.

FBI uses a phone call between Elliot and Tyrell as a proof to Darlene that her brother is not telling her the entire truth.

The cashier at the gas station says “GuyS” to Mr robot Elliot and Tyrell. Since we already know Mr Robot isn’t actually there she must be talking to Tyrell and Elliot as two different individuals

The scene where Price shows up at Tyrell’s house and speak with both Elliot and Tyrell, he says “Mr Alderson you should join us”

Season 1 : fsociety meet and Elliot mentions Tyrell, Romero asks him in disbelief “Tyrell? Like Tyrell Wellik? Since when you and E corp CTO have become friends?”

Also, there’s a “theory” that we see Elliot always dressing up the same because he’s actually an alter so he doesn’t change (as Mr robot for example) but this isn’t true! We see him changing clothes and Darlene actually points it out!

My personal thought is that we see Elliot’s real appearance the whole time but with a different “personality” and this could be explained also by the fact that when Mr Robot takes over the other characters continue to see Elliot’s appearance.

And for Dom telling the Mastermind he doesn’t look like Elliot can’t be taken as proof to say that the real Elliot doesn’t have that physical appearance because , if so, everybody else in the “fake world” shouldn’t recognize him as Elliot

theory is completely wrong for reasons such as;
Tyrell became a wanted man and recognizable by everyone in new york. So how was Elliot (Tyrell) able to go anywhere and sneak around and interact with anyone if he was actually in Tyrrell's body? Everyone would be like "hey aren't you that Tyrell guy?"
I think the comparison of them having abusive fathers is just another parallel between the two seperate characters

Tyrell doesn't look like Darlene or the parents and speaks Danish. If he grew up in new York he'd have to have a danish speaking parent right? Also doesnt seem like a guy who grew up poor like Elliot did

Angela doesnt treat Tyrell like they grew up together as best friends

If Tyrell is our main character than it means the hero of this show beats the shit out of homeless people to get out his rage. Theres your protagonist folks.

I really like this theory, and you had me for a few weeks. Your deleted scene seems to nail it. But then two things happened.

1. The FBI whiteboard that Dom shows to Darlene shows two different pictures for Elliot and Tyrell. The only way for that to be possible is if the whole scene was in Elliot's mind. If Tyrell really was the original personality, Elliot and Tyrell would look the same to both the FBI and Darlene. Here you see both Elliot and Tyrell -- they look different to both Darlene and Dom. Note that Mister Robot is NOT on the whiteboard, as you'd expect.

2. Your deleted scene seems to nail it, however, this can be explained away pretty easily. It's not a deleted scene -- it's a blooper. You can tell it's a blooper for a few reasons. First, Martin Wallström is basically goofing. Look how wooden / stilted he delivers that line "And you too". He's trying to be funny. It's an impromptu line, not scripted. Second, that is genuine laughter. It's the actors that are genuinely laughing, not their characters. Martin was getting a laugh out of his fellow actors. So this clip was not put into the series because Sam Esmail thought it was too explicit; it was not put into the series because it's a blooper.

I really like your theory, but I think my reason #1 is hard evidence why it can't be true, and my reason #2 explains why your deleted scene, which seems irrefutable, can be refuted.

@RÆD It was Elliot's subconscious way of telling him he's not the real Eliot. All this time we were meant to believe two things;

1) The Elliot that we meet in Ron's Coffee shop in Season 1, Ep. 1 is Elliot.
2) Mr Robot as we discover later in the season is not a real person but an alternate personality of Elliot.

The reveal is that Elliot is actually another personality, a Batman-type of personality. A vigilante working for the people to bring justice where the Police could not. Near the end when Elliot is in his dream world, he's not conscious of his memories that he's an alternate personality, he thinks and feels that he IS the real Elliot. He forgot all the details and memories of his true self but subconsciously he still remembers, all those memories are locked away in a safe so to speak. We witness this earlier when we discover in Ep 7 of the same season that Elliot's father was abusing him but he locked it all away and chose to forget, a defense mechanism of sorts.

So when Dom (as a Police Officer in the Dream World) checks Elliot's I.D. and says it's not him, that it doesn't look like him, it's his subconscious telling him that he isn't the real Elliot. This is later explained when Mr. Robot confronts Elliot at the Wedding on the beach at Coney Island. Elliot still refuses to believe until he comes face to face with Krysta in her office. Only then his he forced to face the truth and remember that he's not the real Elliot.

He remains as the "other Elliot" or Mastermind even when he awakes and talks to Darlene in the hospital bed. Only when he begins to truly see how much Darlene misses her real brother does he finally give up control. The scene with him and the family sitting down in the movie theater is symbolism that they are now taking a back seat approach to Elliot's life and are allowing Elliot to re-take control and be himself.

This is revealed when Darlene says hello to him, it's her first time in a long time seeing her real brother, and this is again shown by having Elliot having different color eyes, blue eyes.

Quite a few people believe this is Tyrell because he had blue eyes, but it's not. The theory does not work, period. This was just more symbolism showing he's a different person, the original Elliot and not Mastermind.

that is the worst theory every. They only make Tyrel history similar to Eliot so they have both some connections (but not in 100% anyway), but it doesnt mean Eliot is Tyrel. Deleted scene proves he said that for a joke only and it has to be deleted not because to hide mystery THAT TYREL IS ELIOT but to keep the story as it was that mr.robot (father) doesnt exist there, there was only eliot and tyrel. @@trickstergarm Here's an equally valid theory: Joanna was an alter! That'd explain why she didn't recognize Elliot. She was in their shared brain, too! That would also explain why Tyrell acted like he was so in love with Elliot the entire time because they were married! Elliot is Tyrell's baby mama! Why didn't we see this before? If we ignore all the reasons it's impossible, it could totally be true!

Maybe the creators of the show intended that the whole time, but they made it impossible accidentally. Good thing the show still holds together somehow without it.

Maybe nothing actually happened on the show at all. The whole thing might have taken place on the head of pin in the mind of a fairy, simulated in The Matrix, imagined by Hurley in that mental hospital, but the show was so inept at communicating it that we never got it.

Tyrell was the most wanted man in the world at the same time Elliot was in prison for hacking Michael and taking his dog, and no one in the New York judicial system recognized his face and turned him in to the feds. Or is everyone in the court and the prison also an alter and the show failed to communicate that, too?

For example, the FBI has both of their pictures on the wall, and it’s not like they could have been blanks that are filled in for us. They know who Tyrell is and know who Elliot is.

No, you can't tell from that eye close up because it's too much of a close up. I wanted to prove it to myself one way or the other and I wasn't able too. I looked at eye close ups of both and even looked closely at Elliot's eyes when he's at the hospital talking to Darlene, just before the eye scene. Their eye colors are pretty similar. Tyrell's are definitely more of a blue when he's further from the camera, however in scenes when his eyes are closer they're greener and darker.
It's crazy because Rami Malek's most recognizable feature are his eyes, yet you can't tell... or at least I can't.

Yeah, I mean it's a fun theory to play around with. But your list sums it up pretty much perfectly as to why it doesn't make sense. I would just add why would Romero say something to the effect of "when did you get best buddies with Tyrell?" when he happens to run into him during the server mission.

Really the only most confusing thing about Tyrells ending for me is what was it he saw in the woods? Was it just something his brain made up while he was dying from his wound? Was it "God" like he talked about with his wife when he had that nervous breakdown in season 1? Since we clearly see Tyrell having his own mental problems I could imagine Esmail used Tyrell as a red herring to make you think he was an alter.

But the only way that could work is if they had gone full on sci fi like it seemed like they were about to with the particle accelerator that could send you to another world, or let you meet your younger self or dead family members. If that had been the case I could see this making more sense, and why Whiterose put up with Elliott but as it stands I just can't see it.

My wife and I were expecting him to show up anytime during the last episode or at least that they would explain what the fuck he had seen while dying, but no, nothing. Why put that light there, then? Dude this show ending is one of the worst endings I've ever seen from a tv show. @@Henrique.Souza0601 I can name many worse endings, the problem is this show would often take a long time to come up with answers, sometimes a season later. But it was okay since eventually we did get those answers. And I'm okay with them leaving certain things ambiguous so certain questions will get to remain unanswered. But yes leaving him in the woods with the light was a strange choice given how important of a character he has was. The only answer I could come up with was a hallucination because he was dying. To me Tyrell is the biggest thing this show should have adressed.

The second we got to see the particle accelerator I'm not saying that I called every single thing, or what their exact plan was to use it was. But this series has done such an extreme amount of work trying to ground itself in the real world. From the hacking to most of the mental health stuff was very well researched. So that is when I knew White Rose no matter what her actual plan was. It now made sense to me as to why she let Eliott live beyond him being useful. She seemed to recognize something in him that she could relate to and knew normal people wouldn't understand, but maybe he would. And she could get away with working towards that goal without being questioned as crazy. Because she was making the people working for her and the Chinese government so much money.

Did the machine explode though? I could be wrong I just figured that explosion was in Elliots head after seeing White Rose delete herself (avoiding YT censorsship shadowban). And I mean yes there was something very wrong with Eliott, he wasn't exactly good at hiding it, and it actually does make sense now as to why Mastermind wasn't able to act completely confident like Mr Robot. An alter deciding to take control to such an extent that he forgets that he's an alter, and using morphine to keep the prime hidden. Because the truth was just too hard for the real Elliot to handle. I can get that people might think the answer was too simple for the reason him being this day given how the show was written. But I can't really think of many other reasons as to why that would not have been going into sci-fi territory.

this theory doesn’t completely work because of how we see Tyrell interact with others outside of Elliots perception. (How dark army deals with Tyrell when Elliot is in prison, how we see Whiterose talk about Elliot being in jail (at the same time as Tyrell is in Uosate NY post 5/9). this means either that bit in upstate NY didn’t happen or Elliot was never in jail(which seems more unlikely than the former).

Also how was Tyrell CTO in S4 while Elliot wasn’t?

At first I thought your example was wrong, because the whole time she could just as easily be talking to one person as opposed to two. Elliot, Tyrell and Mr. Robot keep alternating talking to her and she never gives any indication that she could be talking to more than one person... that is until they go back in to ask to use the internet and she says, "oh guys, I understand", with guys being the key word. Now I'm confused, because if Elliott and Tyrell aren't one of the same, then lies an even bigger mystery... why would they bury Tyrell's story? He gets shot in the left abdomen, he looks in shock at a blue light, it fades to white and from that point forward we never see or hear from him again. Even in the last episode when Darlene breaks down everything to Elliot... 5/9 happened, Darlene is dead, etc, there's no mention of Tyrell. So there would have to be another explanation, because they would never bury such an important characters story. Any theories?

Exactly. It's very noticeable when Mr. Robot and Elliot are both there, there's always one of them that's practically "invisible" and nobody's looking at and a "real one" that must be in control of his physical body at the moment. You can tell who's in control atm if you watch careft. That's just not the case when Tyrell and Elliott are both on scene.

This is weird though - all of his alters are based off of people that really existed. If the real Elliot was Tyrell and Tyrell was his true physical appearance, it would make no sense for the "Elliot" alter to look like a random different person. Also notice how the face of Mr. Robot is never depicted anywhere (except for old photos when his father was actually still alive), because he's just in his head. Meanwhile Tyrell and Elliott are depicted a lot. Doesn't follow the same rules, doesn't make sense.

This theory doesnt work for reasons like this. Like that 5 month span Elliot was in prison and Tyrell was being held by the dark army in a cabin with Irving. Also Price met with them both in the same room and addressed them separately while having no idea about Elliots DID. They are in fact separate people. And you can reverse most of the claims made in this video.

There does seem to be a lot more evidence that disproves this theory, but I do suspect there is a hidden meaning behind all these weird coincidences between them that fans have yet to figure out fully.

Not a single thing disproves this theory... why does everyone seem to forget the rules the show establishes for us. In the second season Elliot is allegidly in jail and while he's in jail he paints us a different reality than the one he is experiencing. Also everytime E corp is said we hear evil corp. So Elliots experiences are not meant to be taken 100% literally... we hear things and see things that don't actually happen... they do seem to parallel the actual reality, but the picture Elliot paints for us is sometimes if not always different than the actual reality he is experiencing.

EVERY interaction with Elliot is awkward. Especially when he brings a girlfriend to his house. I suspect Gideon and Tyrell had and earlier relationship too.....which is why Gideon never rats on him.

Mr Robot(Christian Slater) and Mastermind(Rami Malek) are the only alternate personalities. Notice how no character mentions the name “Mr.Robot” except the host, mastermind, his therapist, and Vera when he forces it out of Krista. The only character who mentions the name “Mastermind” is Mr Robot(manifested in the form of Krista) and Angela in Eliot’s subconscious because she’s the only one aside from Darlene(still many questions for Esmail about her character) who can tell when Elliot switches between alts. Tyrell Wellick is a household name in the show and many aspects of this would make absolutely no sense. I will admit their are a few scenes seem to suggest Tyrell and Elliot are the same person like the taxi scene at the end of 2x11 but I believe that was just meant to hype up the Tyrelliot theorists before the rug gets pulled out from underneath them in the next episode where Tyrell shoots Elliot, putting the theory to rest. Esmail does have some explaining to do about that blue light though. And Darlene. I find the theory that Sam Esmail himself is the host more believable than this and I’m pretty sure that one has been debunked too because of the eye color in the final scene. Still, the scene with Sam injecting Elliot with Fentanyl and causing him to overdose and have to be resuscitated by Price in 4x1? While the guy in the lobby is eating fruity pebbles, you can clearly see on the security camera there’s only 2 men in black trenchcoats restraining Elliot and in the elevator. Neither of them are Esmail. Then once they’re back in “John Garcin’s” apartment, Sam Esmail magically appears in a black trenchcoat alongside the other 2 men, with a fatal dose of opiates, which we know is an addiction host Elliot struggled with. Those sketches of Fsociety on Flliots computer in episode 4x12 and the interaction with Dom in 4x13 are very sus too.

Eliott sees his own reflection in the mirror when he breaks it. He sees it again when he puts up the new mirror. Tyrell looks nothing like Eliott's mother and father. Elliot has the skin tone and height, whereas Tyrell is big, blonde, and Scandinavian. That said, Tyrell could be how Elliott wants to see his host because deep down he believes he (and his physical appearance) is not worthy of being loved. Both of them hate their selves, that is definitely a common trait for both.

Its amazing how not one person understood the true ending of Mr robot and how white roses machine actually worked! They go on rants about the show being more about mental illness then the machine but missed the whole point. Just before the machine goes off white rose gives Elliot the choice to choose what happens. He then finds a book with ressurection and exit clues attached that lead him to a computer game. The computer game is his choosing of how the machine will work and recreate the parallel world. Remember he plays the game twice which is very important. The first time he plays he leaves his weak friend (Darlene) behind in the dungeon and eacapes to a beach (ocean of time) and a boat takes him to a new world. The 2nd time he chooses to stay in the dungeon with his friend. So there ends up being two elliots. One that escapes to the new world and leaves behind his best friend (as he calls her in his own words when describing her to the other elliot when talking about fantasizing about the hacker Elliott and his hacker friend Darlene). The other elliot experiences digital glitches (showing the machine is working behind the scenes) and experiences a different reality (the one he chose where he would stay in the dungeon or old reality with his friend darlene) therefor he undergoes a different perception of what's happening. He experiences glitches that reveal the machine is working in the background altering his perception. So that he (the 2nd elliot from the 2nd game played) is told he's in a created loop in which he's made for the real elliot while actually being in a comma from the explosion which then allows the 2nd elliots perception to remain in the dungeon (old world) with his friend Darlene as she sits beside him on the hospital bed. He couldve had the new parallel perfect life (which was real for the other elliot due to the 1st game played) but chose to stay in the dungeon of the old world (which was also real for him at the same time due to the way the computer programmed his perception of what was happening) where he then developed an identity crisis because of the split realities trying to both make since at the same time from him deciding to play twice which programmed the machine to create two elliots and two different events that would both happen simultaneously. And the only way for the machine to make since of this to the 2nd elliot was to create a way for him to believe he's in a comma and that hes having an identity crises.. The key to the final show is the computer game he played that programmed the machine which created the reality that came afterwards. I cant believe no one got this. It's really deep and mindblowing. All that work to create such a deep ending for not one person to get! Not one person understood the ending.

Why would white rose then have killed herself and said in her own words that she was going to let elliot choose? Why did elliot then find secret clues she left behind for him to find ( under the title "ressurection) that would lead him to the program coding software in game format that would program the machine based on his answers to the questions he left? What would've been the point to the game, or her dieing in vain? And why did what followed happen exactly in sync with the answers he left within the game? Even she said he was too late to shut the machine down, and she was already aware of his strategy to try and stop it from going off by uploading the virus or whatever into it. White rose was always steps ahead of mr robot. Even Angela kept rewinding a video of a building falling because she was somehow made aware of the machine's function. Yet everyone also just thought she was crazy too. I believe the ending was designed in such a way that the viewer could see it either way. That elliot was just mentally disturbed in the end and thats all, or that the machine actually did work and elliot ended up getting the reality of his choosing that he wanted to believe and percieve to be true that the machine made real and possible for him. He was given the privilege of being able to experience both worlds at the same time while at the end of the day excepting the one that was flawed because thats what meant most to him. A kinda twisted moral ending so to speak. Heaven or hell ending depending on ones perception, thus why the program clue was called "ressurection".

Guys another thing that maybe proves a common point of Tyrel with Elliot is that in episode 1 when AllSafe has the meeting with Ecorp executives Tyrel goes to Elliot desk for a small talk and the Tyrel says that he is also running Linux on his desktop exactly like Eliot does. In that moment Eliot is astonished about that fact .

@ffs reff this wall was observed only by Dom and Darlene, mastermind had never seen it or known about its existence. Otherwise, with this approach, that everything we see is MM’s perspective, there is a risk of turning the whole show into the Elliot’s dream sequence and making most of the stuff nonexistent. Remember, there are things that Elliot has never experienced, like little stories of other characters, these stories are told through their perspective only.

@@chalovak Agreed. I think the whole point of the final scene with Darlene in the hospital was to show that all the events and people interactions over the series were not just imaginary. Darlene is his anchor, so anything she saw, or was involved with, we know actually happened.

When the maker of the movie said the original host has always been there he did not mean Tyrell. What he meant was whenever the mastermind spoked in inner Monologe and it looked like he broke the fourth wall and talked to us, he did not but talked to the original aliot. We get confirmation of that when aliot is in his illusion where the original aliot lives and hears him inner Monologing. There was never a fourth wall break.

One more scece confirms that. In season 4, when Mastermind alter is trying to pack the body of himself into the car and Dominique as officer is asking him for ID she says: "This is Mr. Elliot Anderson's ID... he looks nothing like you sir." And that's because on the ID was photo of Tyrell Wellick. Tyrell == TRuELLiot.

Also Tyrell says to Elliot he is a complete opposite of him, someone who he wants to be like. Very similar to the explanation the real Elliot gives when he thinks he is in a parallel universe to the created Elliot, where he says I created u bc u were the opposite of me, a rebel and etc.

@@thewon75 (Spoilers) The plot twist are Season 1: He forgets his sister & His Dad is clearly not alive Season 2: Jail Season 3: Stage 2 isn't what Elliot anticipated/Angela Joins Dark Army. Season 4: Elliot has 4 personalities that accumulate him into one whole being the Mastermind being the most prominently shown throughout the show. Also, Elliot was abused as a child. This show absolutely requires a rewatch and 100% attention during every episode. They clear up nearly all storylines besides (Tyrells, but this fan theory video is a stretch.)

You actually see Vera in the Intro (part that tells you what's happened previously) of the episode where Darlene reveals that Vera had spoken to Elliot, which makes me think that the persona that saw Vera was actually you (the audience) and not the real Elliot (or Tyrel). Just some food for thought.

There are some scenes that really backs this theory, and watching this would really make it believable. But also many more that breaks it apart, that I hope it's not true because otherwise it makes the show worse not better. One possibility I can think of is, Sam Esmail was entertaining the idea of Tyrell and Elliot being same person, so he planted some scenes and hints, but eventually decided to go a different route, with some breadcrumb trails still there. Or maybe that alternative timeline actually works?

This theory is really difficult to reconcile with a lot of scenes from the show, just for example if Elliot is Tyrell how come his own wife have Elliot search for himself by tracking the phone call, and Tyrell own security guard tells Elliot that part of him wishes is not him etc, how come it’s own security guard is not recognizing Tyrell in Elliot, and even is stress out for the fact that maybe Elliot track Tyrell. And It’s not only that scene, it’s too many like that to think or the whole show it’s been lying to the viewers (in that case we’ll need a new show to explain all the loopholes this theory leaves), or this theory is not possible at all.

a lot of things doesnt add up here, but i remember watching that eisode in the snowy forest and felt like this doesnt make any sense. Three of them just walking felt bizarre. And then, the protective alter just stands next to Tyrell and refuses to walk away with the 1st alter

I always had this strange explainable feeling about how Tyrell fit within the universe of Mr. Robot that I could never really quite place. Everything about him in this universe really didn't fit.

And it may be because of this is a universe that he is creating for himself to escape his own trauma.

If the final evidence for being an alter is that you have to be an alter to talk directly to more than one alter at a time, Angela would have to be an alter too, and so would Price, and that makes zero sense. There's a scene where Mr. Robot loses control in front of both Angela and Tyrell and MM takes over. Angela has to knock out Elliot's body, and Tyrell instantly loses faith in Elliot after that. When Price comes to Tyrell's house and offers him CTO, he speaks directly to Mr. Robot, who he refers to as "Mr. Alderson." Irving would have to be an alter, White Rose would have to be an alter considering that in all her plans she treats Elliot and Tyrell as two different people. The FBI would have to all be alters, they have pictures of both of them, and Darlene is shown them, and she's asking about Tyrell in the restaurant because she's WORKING FOR THE FBI. If Tyrell is an alter because he can talk directly to alters in a deleted scene that means any character who was ever in a room with both Tyrell and Elliot also has to be an alter. Why the hell would Tyrell's wife be so distraught, and believe the fake phone calls gambit so hard, and then track down Elliot and make him trace the call when she knows he's just Tyrell? Why would she still need proof he's alive so bad? Tyrell being an alter breaks the whole show.

Ugh I loathe this theory. It makes no sense. Really don't understand why people still keep considering it when there are so many scenes/situations that would make no fucking sense whatsoever if Elliot and Tyrell were the same person (i.e., when Elliot was walking around New York whilst the FBI was trying to track down Tyrell).

This theory sucks. Phillip Price went to Tyrell's house to hire appoint him as CTO and Mr. Robot was there. He greeted them both separately and told Elliot to join them as well since he was part of five/nine. How could he have seen them both?

@@eraselanda Honestly? I think we may have a "Tony Soprano" on our hands. Sam Esmail almost certainly has something vague in his mind, but doesn't want to give a hard answer to the world. From a writer's standpoint, it makes no sense to have an answer. It's like a good book -- it's different things to different people, and different people get different experiences from consuming the narrative. If you think about it from a writer's standpoint, there's no benefit for there being an answer. Again, look at The Sopranos -- 22 years later, people are STILL talking about what the ending means. A writer would have to be crazy to have, let alone give, the answer to the final mystery of the show.

Sam Esmail a really gifted writer. I'd bet money if you were to put a gun to Sam Esmail's head and force him to give you answer he'd say something really infuriating like "There is no answer. It's whoever you think it is".

@@eraselanda Some people say it's the best show ever made for TV. I wouldn't go that far. It was excellent, but there are SO many better shows out there. If you haven't seen (for example) Breaking Bad or The Knick, I enjoyed them more than Sopranos. The Knick, especially. But then again, I'm a New Yorker, and I love seeing shows that take place in NYC. :-)

Sorry, but this theory is paper-thin. You can't give some examples to prove a theory and call it a day - you have to try to disprove it. And if you can't, then it is a valid theory.

A very easy way to disprove this is that Tyrell is wanted by the FBI, yet Elliot can walk around in public just fine.

Edit: this isn't even the best evidence against the theory - there is countless more once you think about it for more than two seconds.

This theory doesn't match at all. Elliot was in jail when Tyrell worked for dark army. The car at the parking was a task from Irving, but not Elliot but is alter Mr robot drove the car and Elliot came back in his own head after at the parking. This entire theory doesn't make any sense. I watched the show 8 times in 2 years and can every line out of my head, I know what I'm talking about.

you're reading way too much into it. you forget as a tv show who is it we are following, how many times does Elliot ask the viewers are you still here? are you still listening? he may be lying (to protect you) it is why in season 4 all of a sudden we start talking about pedos? it really came out of no where.... but as a viewer for elliot not Tyrell... see the show was always dropping hints. and sam esmail is always testing the viewer to truly see if you are really paying attention.

you can watch the show 100 times over , yet you failed to understand the bigger picture. we've been doing this in films books and in music for years lol.

The clerk recognizes Tyrell(he's famous and was on the run for some time yet no one recognizes Elliot as Tyrell anywhere in NY) and specifically calls Elliot Tyrell's rude friend. This interaction imo was made to subtly disprove the theory before Tyrell's death.
