Hurricane
MS MR Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
But I knew I didn't see
What you thought you saw in me
I jumped the gun
So sure you'd split and run
Ready for the worst
Before the damage was done
The storm never came
Or it never was
Didn't know getting lost in the blue
It meant I wound up losing you
Welcome to the inner workings of my mind
So dark and foul I can't disguise
Can't disguise
Nights like this
I become afraid
Of the darkness in my heart
Hurricane
Oh ho oh ho
What's wrong with me
Why not understand and see
I never saw
What you saw in me
Keep my eyes open
My lips sealed
My heart closed
And my ears peeled
Welcome to the inner workings of my mind
So dark and foul I can't disguise
Can't disguise
Nights like this
I become afraid
Of the darkness in my heart
Hurricane
Make ash and leave the dust behind
Lady Diamond in the sky
Wild light
Glowing bright
To guide me when I fall
I fall on tragedy
Welcome to the inner workings of my mind
So dark and foul I can't disguise
Can't disguise
Nights like this
I become afraid
Of the darkness in my heart
Hurricane
The song “Hurricane” by MS MR is a rendition of a situation where the artist feels unable to comprehend why a loved one would stay with them, realizing too late what is important. The lyrics seem to delve into the inner workings of the artist’s mind, where they are afraid of the darkness in their heart. They admit that they were too quick to make assumptions and act before any actual harm was done. The artist is acknowledging that their worst fears were never realized, and they lost the one they loved because they couldn’t see what was in front of them.
By admitting their flaws and fears, the artist is able to convey a relatable message about the human experience. The use of the symbol of a hurricane underscores the chaos and confusion inside the artist's mind, taking the listener on a journey through feelings of loss, guilt, and eventual acceptance. The final verses of the song suggest that the singer sees Lady Diamond (a juxtaposition of two entirely different things) as a guiding light, similar to the North Star. The emotional journey conveyed in this song makes it relatable, and the symbolism used in the lyrics is profound.

I remember when this came out and how much it felt like I was literally soul connected to it like a soul contract ... I just know how much this speaks to my core . Listening to it again in 2022 and I still feel that feeling I felt when I first started playing / connecting to it in 2011..... Great great band but underated sadly ...youre doing gods work with this stuff as it has that ability to heal you but also a feeling of nostalgia / yearning for something missing 💔⚡💔
@michellehamer5965
“Soul connected to it like a soul contract” yes!!! For me it’s not even the lyrics it’s the way each section “feels”. It rides across my chest and lingers long after. I’m not even going to bother articulating how it makes me fee, there just aren’t any ti accurately describe. So if this moves you, then you get me & I get you✨
@tirtunemdouq
Same same same. Felt complete connection with it..

Poetic post! Praying God heals you! Sin as you need to and lessen your underworld activity. Faith of that of a mustard seed, and you'd be surprised! -Michael
