Let's dance
M Ward Lyrics

Let's dance, to the song they're playin' on the radio
Let's sway, while color lights up your face
Let's sway, sway through the crowd to an empty space
If you say run, I'll run with you
If you say hide, we'll hide
Would break my heart in two
If you should fall
Into my arms
And tremble like a flower
Let's dance, for fear your grace should fall
Let's dance, for fear tonight is all
Let's sway, you could look into my eyes
Let's sway, under the moonlight, this serious moonlight
If you say run, I'll run with you
If you say hide, we'll hide
Because my love for you
Would break my heart in two
If you should fall
Into my arms
And tremble like a flower
Let's dance, put on your red shoes and dance the blues
Let's dance, to the song they're playin' on the radio
Let's sway, you could look into my eyes
Let's sway, under the moonlight, this serious moonlight
The song "Let's Dance" by M Ward is a beautiful tribute to love and dancing. The lyrics evoke a sense of tenderness and care that the singer has for their significant other. The opening lines urge the listener to dance, to put on their red shoes and let go of their troubles. The chorus repeats this sentiment, solidifying the importance of letting loose and enjoying life.
The second verse delves deeper into the connection between the couple. The phrase "let's sway" repeats throughout the verse, emphasizing the physical closeness that dancing brings. The singer is urging their partner to let go alongside them, to sway through the crowd and find an empty space to truly connect. The bridge brings a slight change in tone, with the singer detailing their undying love. They promise to stay by their partner's side through all of life's ups and downs, whether they need someone to run with or to hide with. The bridge ends on a poignant note, with the singer admitting that their love is so strong that even the idea of their partner falling could break their heart in two. The final chorus brings everything full circle, encouraging the listener to dance once more.
Overall, "Let's Dance" is a song about the power of love, connection, and letting go. The lyrics encourage the listener to find joy in the present moment and to prioritize the people they care about.

I had always thought Bowie's song fine: punchy, synthesized post-disco funk. But, M. Ward's version won my heart. Tender. And the first time I truly absorbed the lyric: "Because my love for you would break my heart in two if you should fall into my arms and tremble like a flower." Wow... love it!

Same with me. That is a beautiful, tender and heartbreaking lyric that the original buries in its quirky melodic arrangement.
M Ward wrings all of the emotion out of that line. Opened up the song for me

This is my and my wife’s song. After 14 years wherever we are in life if this comes on we stop and dance together. My greatest joy these days is dancing to this song knowing our three kiddos are watching. They get to see that, even when times get tough, there’s always room for beautiful things. I only hope my kids can have the joy my wife and I have with their spouses some day.

Love this cover. I'm a diehard Bowie fan but I've got to say Lets dance isn't one of my favourite Bowie songs. Listening to this version has made me appreciate it more.
