Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Mac Miller's song Mad Flava Heavy Flow are quite straightforward and an example of his ability to craft impactful lyrics using simple phrases. The repetition of "Mad Flava" and "Heavy Flow" throughout the song adds to the hypnotic and almost trance-like quality of the track. The phrase "Mad Flava" usually refers to a strong and distinctive style or flavor, while "Heavy Flow" could be interpreted as referring to a woman's menstrual cycle or a particularly heavy bassline in music.

However, when the two phrases are combined in the context of the song, it could be seen as Miller talking about a woman who exudes confidence and sexuality. He may also be commenting on her ability to stand out in a crowd and make a statement. The lyrics could also be interpreted as Miller's own way of expressing his individuality and standing out in a music industry that often favors conformity. The overall message of the song seems to be about being unapologetically yourself and embracing your own unique style and energy.

Used to play this little interlude over and over my senior year of high school. It's sampled from the song Listen Up by Erule which in turn samples Everybody Loves the Sunshine by Roy Ayers, which has been one of my favorite songs for the past couple of years. Something about this particular chord progression just does it for me. Gets all the right parts of my brain buzzing.

RIP Mac Miller
