The band released their self-titled debut album in 1998 for Jetset Records. In 1999 they released See It Another Way (Jetset). They also teamed up with Bedhead a year later for the mini-album Macha Loved Bedhead (Jetset 2000). Four years since their last full-length, the group returned with Forget Tomorrow (Jetset 2004) expanding their sound and venturing further into pop territories.

...
You hold me tight
Do I smell like you
Not possible, to stay in your eyes
...
Try not to feel, responsible
You only lick my arm
We clean each other for comfort
We clean each other for comfort
We clean each other for comfort
...
Do you smell like me?
Do you smell like you?
Creep, creep, creep, ...
You're not like them
...
They hate what they do not understand
I'd have to love
Your criminal mind
...
...
I think we got what we need
I think we got what we need
I think we got what we need
We clean each other for comfort
We clean each other for comfort
Do you smell like me? Do I smell like you?
We clean each other for comfort
We clean each other for comfort
The lyrics of Macha's song Salty appear to describe a close and physical relationship between two individuals who are reliant upon one another for comfort. The line "You have an easy way" suggests that the singer finds solace in the company of the other individual, and the line "You hold me tight" reinforces the notion of intimacy. The following lines, "Do I smell like you / Not possible, to stay in your eyes," are somewhat perplexing, but they may reflect a sense of longing or desire for the other person.
Later in the song, the lyrics imply that the relationship is frowned upon by others who do not understand it. The line "They hate what they do not understand" suggests that the two individuals are ostracized or judged for their closeness. However, the singer seems to find comfort in this relationship despite the judgment of others, even going so far as to describe the other person as having a "criminal mind." The repetition of the line "We clean each other for comfort" underscores the idea that the two individuals rely on one another for emotional support.
Overall, the lyrics of Salty suggest a deep and complicated relationship that is perhaps misunderstood by others. The song's sensual overtones imply a physicality that is both comforting and vulnerable, making for a complex emotional landscape.

Saw these guys in Athens, GA at the 40 Watt in 2000. 4 dudes and 400 instruments. Blew my mind.

At 4am, while listening to pinback's first album I ask "what's the OTHER obscure and very cool album I was partially obsessed with when I was 24?" Annnnnnd minutes later here I am

Very similar experience here... reminiscing about bands from my college days with my wife... I was like... I am thinking of an M and a 3... no, that's Mojave 3... no, not Bedhead... but aha, Macha Loved Bedhead... was it track 3... yeah, that's the crazy one! :) God bless the old indie and post-rock days!

pinback 1st record is so good. everyone skips it for blue screen life, but it has a completely different feeling to it. three mile pilot's first few albums fit into this category for me as well.

Dear Jetset:
(or anyone willing for that matter...) Please reissue See it Another Way and Macha's debut on vinyl!!!
@GregSwan1
I talked to the band about this a couple times and they don’t own the rights to put the album on streaming services, much less reissue. Huge bummer.

I saw these guys at the Flower 10 shows put on by Thrill Jockey at Metro, Chicago - in 2000. Amazing live band. Having never heard them they made a serious impression. Really enjoyed listening to their record today for the first time in forever! Thx macha and uploader.
