The first release was a collection of songs by themselves and two other bands - The Libertines (Australian band) and Limebunny. The three groups weren't completely separate - there was some overlap between members.
Machine Gun Fellatio's first well known track was Isaac or Fuzz, a song made of parts of a voice message left at a recording studio, put to a fast dance beat.
They remained quiet until 1999 when they released Mutha Fukka on a Motorcycle, and Unsent Letter. By this stage the band comprised seven members.
In 2002 they played the Big Day Out festivals, and have since played at many others, including Homebake, Livid and Gone South.
Their album Paging Mr. Strike was released in 2002 and was a big turning point for the band. By this time they were very popular on Triple J and also started to receive some airplay on other stations, with Rollercoaster being one of their more commercial friendly tracks. In 2003 the album was re-released with 2nd CD of remixes and rare tracks.
The group caused some controversy for their wild performances, which often involved both male and female nudity, light bondage gear and implied sexual intercourse with their instruments. After a Student Union organised performance at the University of Melbourne, fellow Victorian universities RMIT University and Swinburne University of Technology cancelled their scheduled performances because of the band's lewd behaviour at Melbourne University. This didn't stop universities in New South Wales, Queensland, and Tasmania allowing the band to perform on their campuses, and didn't stop Melbourne University hiring the band again the following year.
2005 saw their break-up and band members moving onto other projects and other cities. In 2006, Pinky's new band The White Russians formed. Loveshark has created the 'Stoner Funk Orchestra', gigs around Sydney and has plans for world domination. Failing that, a tour of Australia, bringing his eclectic rock/groove/funk/pop mix to the masses. He also has a side project, The Space Cowboys with MGF bassist 3k Short. Drummer Bryan Ferrysexual has also formed a band of his own - Super Massive. Previously, he created and performed with The Bryan Ferrysexual Experience.

Machine Gun Fellatio Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I like to do the swim
I am especially good
At the butterfly
Here are my flipper
Here are my goggles too
Hear my barnacles
Have you got bucket and spade
Bouncy bouncy bikini bottoms
Bouncy bouncy bikini bottoms
Bouncy bouncy bikini bottoms
Bouncy bouncy bikini bottoms
Heh
Neh
Nehah
Hey
Hian
Hotla
Hahair
Bouncy bouncy bikini bottoms
Bouncy bouncy bikini bottoms
Bouncy bouncy bikini bottoms
Bouncy bouncy bikini bottoms
So, ah, are you going back to college after, after Spring Break?
Well I don't know, Mark. I, things have changed at home and
Ma needs a bit of help Dad's never there and,
Well, Grandpa's sick, and
Hell, I know, I might just uproot and go to Europe
Take some smack, maybe fuck a few French boys
Who knows? I'm just free and easy
I'm just free and easy
I'm just free and easy
The lyrics to Machine Gun Fellatio's song Free and Easy appear to be a parody of the stereotypical spring break experience. The singer is announcing their plans to go to the beach and swim, but they emphasize their skill at the butterfly stroke. They also mention their gear, including flippers, goggles, and barnacles (presumably referring to a scuba diving suit). The repetition of "bouncy bouncy bikini bottoms" creates a sense of playful sexualization, which is further emphasized by the nonsensical vocalizations that follow.
In the middle of the song, a conversation between two people breaks in. The person named Mark asks if the singer is going back to college after spring break. The response is a comically bleak litany of family problems, ending with the suggestion that the singer might go to Europe, take drugs, and have sex with French boys. The final repetition of "I'm just free and easy" is both a reaffirmation of the singer's carefree attitude and a reminder that their freedom may not be entirely voluntary.
Overall, the song seems to be poking fun at the idea of spring break and the pressure put on young people to conform to certain expectations of behavior. The singer's exaggerated enthusiasm for swimming and their offhanded reference to drug use and promiscuity are both indications that they are rejecting these expectations and embracing their freedom to do whatever they please.
