Machine Gun Kelly released his fifth album, Tickets to My Downfall, in 2020; it marked a complete departure from hip hop and entry into pop punk. It debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, the only rock album to do so that year, and contained the single "My Ex's Best Friend" (with blackbear), which reached number 20 on the Hot 100. He achieved similar commercial success with its follow up mainstream sellout (2022).
Machine Gun Kelly had his first starring role in the romantic drama Beyond the Lights (2014), and since appeared in the techno-thriller Nerve (2016), the horror Bird Box (2018), the comedy Big Time Adolescence and portrayed Tommy Lee in the biopic The Dirt (both 2019).

I'm pit bull, that x shit, that going in at they neck shit
That we gon have a problem if I am not on the next shit
'Cause I wreck shit can't tame me I'm Eminem and I'm jay z
I'm a renegade this rap shit me and all my boy like A-Team
Fuck wrong with y'all this is my warning shot so I better see you ghost
Because I will treat competition like Halls,
Skip conversation and come at they throats
Boy I'm from the c-l-e-v-e-l-a-n-d and I will be reppin' that until I die
And you either with me or riding against me
So lemme know put them L's up in the sky lace up

Call me the man, no better yet call me the kid
'Cause ain't nobody this young done what I did
'Cause ain't nobody this young go through the shit
I went through these past couple years and lived.
Y'all suckers, hickey shit,
I'm a real rockstar nikki sixx
I'm minajin y'all just watching got damn y'all Nicki's bitch
Can the game get anymore corny?
Can the fame get anymore boring?
Can any lame y'all think is dope put out garbage and make it easy for me?
Is it possible for anyone to adore me,
Is it possible for anyone to record me
So I can address all the people that took my clothes,
Videos, songs and put em out before me
And it's impossible to die
Possibly to live with the endless lyrics? Somebody call the paramedics
Somebody call the fucking paramedics
Is it even possible to lack the academics
To get the credit in the city and never spend a minute in a class
Fuck that kiss my ass, drink til it's pitch black roll it up let me hit it.

In "Warning Shot," Machine Gun Kelly and Cassie deliver a powerful message to the rap industry that their time has come. The lyrics convey a sense of urgency and determination, calling out those who have doubted and disrespected them. The chorus repeats the phrase "this is our warning shot," emphasizing that they are not to be underestimated anymore. MGK's verse highlights his rise to fame, from a small-time artist with no connections to a respected figure in the industry. He boasts about his skill, comparing himself to Eminem and Jay-Z, and warns his competition that he will not hold back. Cassie's verse focuses on her struggles with gaining recognition in the game, expressing her frustration with the industry's tendency to promote mediocrity over true talent. She demands to be heard and respected, no matter what obstacles are in her way.
"Warning Shot" was released as a single in 2012 and was included on the mixtape EST 4 Life. The song features production by JP Did This 1 and ill Minded Beats. The track was praised for its raw energy and honest lyrics, showcasing MGK's ability as a lyricist and Cassie's potential as a rapper. The song also marked a departure from MGK's usual sound, featuring a more aggressive and punk-inspired beat.

This song is hella lit. MGK was kind of frowned upon, and looked at like an outcast after the eminem stuff But a lot of people forget how talented Colson Baker truly is.
