Few Christian bands have enjoyed the longevity and underground critical acclaim as Mad at the World. From the day mailman and lead singer Roger Rose stuck a tape in a record company executive's mailbox until current times, Mad at the World has turned heads with their provocative music.
The first two albums featured a synth/pop style of music. Then, in order to have a sound more amiable for live performances, the band's musical style shifted to hard rock for the next three albums. The last two albums brought some member changes and a more retro sounding style of music.
Lyrically, the band delves into the many struggles we face in life and reminds us of our hope in our Saviour, Jesus Christ. Issues dealt with in the songs include drugs, anger, hopelessness, and lost loves -- as well as hope, love, peace, forgiveness, blessed relationships, and eternal life.
Here We Go Again
Mad At The World Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Here we go again
We're in this place again
It's killing me again
To wear these chains of sin
And you this thought
When you look into your mind
And a path too hard to climb
So be easy now
Be easy on yourself
A little fall
Happens to them all
CHORUS
CHORUS
And you want to be good
For your life to go somewhere
But your actions say
That you really just don't care
And you never see
What your life was meant to be
Here in this heart
There's not way to start
CHORUS
Do you wonder if
You're missing Heaven's goal?
Could there be a way
For God to be in control?
Well, it seems to me
That the world will never know
But does it have to apply
To believing eyes?
So here we go again
So here we go again
So here we go again
So here we go again
The lyrics of Mad At The World's song Here We Go Again reflect the struggle of a person stuck in the vicious cycle of sin and guilt. The chorus of the song emphasizes this feeling by repeating the phrase "Here we go again" and highlighting the weight of the chains of sin that the person feels. The verse talks about how our thoughts and actions can be in conflict with each other, and how we can feel lost in this "human world" that can be hard to navigate.
The second verse talks about the desire to do good in life and the frustration of knowing that our actions don't always align with that desire. The lyrics also touch upon the idea that our true purpose in life may sometimes elude us, and that we may not know how to start on the right path to find it. The final verse presents the question of whether we are missing out on our ultimate goal of attaining heaven and whether we can truly be in control of our own lives. The song ends with a repetition of the chorus, perfectly encapsulating the cyclical nature of the struggle.
Overall, this song expresses the inner turmoil and emotional struggle that people can go through when facing their own shortcomings and trying to rise above them.
