Founding members Chuck Robertson, Sascha Lazor, Todd Rosenberg, Carter Benson and James Malis started the group in high school but the band's membership has changed frequently since its inception. Drummer Todd Rosenberg left the band in 1999, Benson left the band in 2002, and bassist Mark Iversen left the band in 2006. The current lineup consists of:
* Chuck Robertson (lead vocals/rhythm guitar/primary lyricist)
* Sascha Lazor (lead guitar/banjo/primary composer),
* Keith Douglas (trumpet/backing vocals)
* Ed Hernandez (trombone)
* Brian Flenniken (drums/percussion),
* Cris Badham (bass guitar).
The band used to play under the name The Ivy League, but in 1996 they changed their name after signing to the Honest Don's Records label to avoid confusion (and potential litigation) with two prior bands that went by the same moniker. The band's debut album, Quality Soft Core, was released the following year. After the release of the album, the band was signed to Fat Mike's label Fat Wreck Chords, through which the Mad Caddies have since released 4 studio albums, an EP and a live album.

Nobody Wins at the Laundromat
Mad Caddies Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
They claim to be your friend
A blackened wick is all that remains
When the verdict has been said
With no legs left to stand on
No truth to call your own
Like a tired soldier slowly dying
Now I see you lying in the bed you chose to make
Backstabber
Hows it feel now to live the life
I've always known was fake
Trying harder just to realize
What the hell was goin on
I saw you lookin in the shadows
Don't you know I'm strong?
I've got my own intuitions
I've got my own beliefs
And when you try to toy with nature
You'll be falling with the leaves
And now it's all beginning
Sail the ship you chose to build
You won't see me crying
Washed my hands clean
And now I see you lying in the bed you chose to make
Backstabber
How's it feel now to live the life
That I've always known was fake
The song "Nobody Wins at the Laundromat" by Mad Caddies is a song about betrayal and the consequences that come with it. The lyrics describe the feelings of someone who has been wronged by a supposed friend or associate. The opening lines illustrate the betrayal felt by the singer, as they realize that the person they thought was their friend has turned on them. The line "A blackened wick is all that remains" suggests that the trust has been completely extinguished and nothing but a charred and useless husk is left behind.
The chorus of the song echoes this sentiment, as the singer takes aim at the backstabber in question, accusing them of living a fake life. The music itself is upbeat, with horns and keyboards providing a catchy melody despite the heavy tone of the lyrics. The lyrics suggest that the betrayal has allowed the singer to see the true nature of the backstabber and has allowed them to move on from the hurt of the past.
Overall, "Nobody Wins at the Laundromat" is a song that deals with a universal theme of betrayal and its consequences. The lyrics are powerful and vivid, conveying a sense of hurt and anger that many listeners will relate to.
