For Rachel's name - it seems in the context of the show it is 'Greene' - it's very common when you order anything at the store or over the phone and tell them your name, that it is misspelled by the staff there. One of the biggest plot holes (which I never really see anyone mention) is on the outside shots of the apartment, you can never see the famous balcony they have. You could just say it may just be on the other side of the building, but in the episode where Rachel throws all of Palos clothes from the balcony because he cheats, the clothes fall down the same side of the outside shot of the building, however it still isn’t visible.

A HUGE one you missed was Monica's wedding dress changed. She tried on a dress in the pricey boutique, then fought over what she called "her dress" in the bargain sale scene which was a completely different dress, then later tried her dress on at home and it was the dress she had tried on in the boutique first.

It also said that the 'Emily' storyline was supposed to be longer than what it was, but the writers had to shorten it because of Helen's pregnancy.

I think one of the beauties of Friends is that although there was a loose thread tying it all together...it was genius that they made each episode a story in itself...without background. THAT to me, is perfect. You can watch any episode, and each one is a complete story in itself. Background stuff is helpful, but you can still enjoy a single episode without it.
Another thing that never ceases to amaze me, is how 'un-obvious' it is to date it. I'm always amazed to remember how old the episode is...but it never feels dated.

I have one. The STORAGE DOOR near the balcony. What I'm always amazed at is that people can be visiting Monica's restaurant kitchen, casually walking in, but as anyone who works in a kitchen knows you have to wear a hair-net in food prep areas. Especially people like Phoebe with long hair. Even Monica doesn't always have her hair up and in the hat.

@Sharon R because sometimes you need to do reshoots for certain parts of the scene so while the actual actress is somewhere else maybe shooting a smaller scene or off site they use a stand in. It's probably a reshoot thing for phoebe being in the chair when paul the wine guy turned around too but they probably did it on the day a bit later or they just cut a bit from later.

Friends, even with everything discussed here, was an AWESOME show. I have binge watched all seasons twice and after the first time through I watched the Reunion that they did a couple of years ago. And then I watched “Chandler’s” recent interview, discussing his alcohol and drug addictions. What an amazing actor to still be functional through all that was happening in his personal life. My hat is off to him and his co-stars. And I wish him nothing but good in his fight to maintain sobriety and for being so upfront and transparent now.

I’ve noticed most of these over the years, the apartment number, the backdrop of across the street, the flexible birthdays, but others in this video are easier to explain. Phoebe might know French but was trying to flirt with Tim, cos I can think of several examples where she speaks French. The door thing could be explained by the door usually being on a latch, and that latch clicking shut. This has actually happened to me! Chandlers crying can be explained by the fact he’s quite in touch with his feminine side so he’s portrayed as trying to seem emotionally stunted, when he really isn’t. Ben can be explained by the fact that he might go to see him, and they have blown all the budget on their salaries! Rachel’s surname can be explained by people getting spellings wrong. It’s pretty common in real life. But as for the rest of the video, yeah, there are a few mistakes. But hey, they’re only human. Even the scriptwriters.

The one with Monica and Rachel "being replaced" is easily explained. Back then, the format was technically filmed in widescreen, but edited and broadcasted in 4:3 because that was the TV standard at the time (even the first DVD release was still in 4:3 if I remember correctly). Hence producers often used "unofficial" takes when they fitted better. Many times, when only one actor should redo a line, it was filmed opposite a random person just to get that one shot. Didn't matter because the counterpart was "lost" in the editing room. Only when this show get reworked to HD, they restored the widescreen footage from the original film and hence some of this slipped in. If many other 80s/90s show were big enough to be restored to HD like Friends, you'd find just this in many of them.

Has anyone noticed this : in season 5 episode 5 opening scene, Joey walks in on Chandler and Monica and then goes to the bathroom, then when Chandler opens the bathroom door he has fallen asleep on the "toilet".
In this scene the toilet is right in front of the door, but all other shots of the bathroom shows it being on the right side which can't be directly seen from outside when the door is open.

In the one with Brad Phoebe also tells the others how she and some other people would "learn French behind a dumpster", Chandler's glasses disappear in later seasons, Ben's hair color changes from black to blond, the boxes with Monica's childhood stuff move back to her parents' house and her old room was turned into a gym at two different times, in the ep where Joey and Chandler get a new table their apartment number changes from 19 back to 4, Ross keeps bragging about his PhD but in the one with the tan he asks the employee how "he would know when the spray-on tan would start when there's no light on the back wall" when the light was just a sign for him to close his eyes (this was explained to him a few minutes prior where again he would mention he had a PhD) and in the one with the mugging Phoebe was all of a sudden 14 when Ross was "a kid" but later they're all 30 at the same time

But monica had to be careful because the Super or Downstairs neighbor (I cant remember which) threatened to get her evicted for illegal subletting.

Actually it wouldn’t be that weird for a name to be spelled wrong on a cake box or anything you order if someone just scribbled the name on there. I’d go with Greene since that’s how it’s written on her office and how Ross wrote it. Also on a different note, I’ve noticed a lot of sitcoms have changed things right after the pilot for the second episode; usually it is a name change or certain things will change in the main house/apartment or other buildings. The Rachel "Greene" mistake can be easily broken down:
1. IMDB: human error by whoever made the entry (IMDB data is not official data entered by someone who actually worked on the show)
2. Rachel's name on the door: correct, Greene (done on purpose since since her office would know how to spell her name for the nameplate)
3. Rachel's name on the envelope: correct, Greene (also done on purpose since of course Ross would know how to spell Rachel's last name)
4. Rachel's name on the cake box: incorrect because it was written by the cake makers and they could have easily assumed there wasn't an "E" at the end when Rachel ordered the cake
In short, the "Greene" issue isn't such a big deal.

Rachel's surname thing is pretty easy to explain. I think it is Green, since that's what it says on her door at work and that's how Ross (her ex-bf) spells it. The name on the cake though could have been a simple misspelling by the cake guys who might have heard Rachel's name over the phone.

There's a couple plot holes in the prom video scene. Chandler makes a comment about "how many cameras are actually on you" when talking about Monica's weight in high school, which made it seem like he didn't know she was bigger as a kid. A few minutes later Ross tells Rachael in the video that he is going to work on his music that summer. Chandler pokes fun at him for it. Later in the one with all the Thanksgivings, it's revealed that Chandler is Ross' "roommate and lead singer" in his band.

I think the confusion behind Rachel and Chandler not knowing each other could be explained by them pretending they never met each other. Lots of people do that especially if they regret it lol. I also think the problem of Ross's age not changing is because people lie about their age all the time. It makes sense that he would lie about being younger than he is.

If you actually watched the show, you would know that Monica has that apartment because it's in her grandmother's name. When nana passed away, Monica took over her apartment and it's got some kind of rent control. That's how her being able to afford such a big place in NYC was explained in the show, not sure what episode I think when Treiger, the maintenance guy, was having Joey give him dance lessons, but they mentioned it was her grandmother's in many episodes.

When Monica gets married in season 7 her parents walk her down the aisle and her mother says she wishes Monica’s grandmother could be there. Monica points and says “she’s right there,” but Judy says she was talking about her own mother. This must mean that Monica and Ross’s grandmother who died in season 1 was Judy’s mother. But in season 10 when they are making the video for Emma’s 18th birthday, Judy tells Emma that her own parents died very young. But if Judy’s mother died when her own grandchildren were in their twenties, she didn’t die young.

I think the reason for the body swaps or Phoebe teleportation is that the show was aired in 4:3 aspect ratio. I assume when it went widescreen in later years, the picture was broader and started showing new parts that were invisible before. Hence, the editors could use those shots back then, but later it became a problem.

There is also an episode where Ross gets the body-swap treatment during a reshoot. It happens in the scene where Phoebe and Mike go into Central Perk and tell Monica, Chandler and Ross that they've decided to move in together. Ross is there at first but when the angle goes wide, it is some other guy in a blue button-down shirt and he has a piece of paper in his hand. I'm sure they just needed a body on that end of the couch while Chandler, Monica and Phoebe said their lines and probably grabbed one of the writers.

Actually, in the season with all the flashbacks I believe, when Janice asks if any of them have hooked up with each other, the way Monica can afford her apartment is mentioned.
Joey gets invited and thinking they're going to have sex and Monica is making a drink for them. She said something about her grandmother retiring and removing to Florida otherwise she would never be able to afford it. It's actually mentioned two or three times.
There's also the time where the maintenance guy, sorry, I forget his name at the moment, said something about Monica subletting her grandmother's apartment. It's the episode where Joey dances with him. It's also mentioned another time that I can't quite recall right now

In the episode with Brad Pitt, Phoebe states that during her teen years she and her friends would gather behind a dumpster and study French. So, she learnt the language at a young age, and it was self-taught. She appears to have a good understanding of it, but that wouldn't mean she's familiar with every word. Although sous-chef is an adopted word and used in English, so while I can excuse that she didn't know it, it still doesn't make sense that she didn't.

I came across a Friends board game many years ago at a garage sale! It came with an interactive DVD for the game! Only paid $5 for it & love it!
Also a few months back had bought a wax warmer from Scentsy (my daughter sells it)... and its the couch from Central Perk on Friends! Paired it with the coffee flavored wax...
