Maddison Krebs Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Im done|Sitting here just talking |about someone I never should've loved|what was I thinking |oh what was going on |I need this broken heart to be gone ||Im waiting for the clock to tick tick |my hurt away |Time keeps passing |But my heart keeps aching for you baby ||Each time |I see love |your face flashes in my mind |Why can't I erase you |you left me hanging oh hanging |here all alone ||Im waiting for the clock to tick tick |my hurt away |I know they say time heals everything |But its my mind I need to change ||Whats said is done |What we have is gone |you brought me down |Times ran out |I walking away from you baby ||Im not waiting Im done hurting |Im done waiting for the clock to tick tick |my hurt away |Im done waiting for the clock to tick tick|my hurt away |Time keeps passing but Im not staying for you baby|

Overall Meaning

In Maddison Krebs's song Tick Tick, she expresses her regret and pain in loving someone she should not have. She acknowledges her mistake in being involved with this person and questions her judgment during that time. The lyrics "about someone I never should've loved, what was I thinking, oh what was going on" highlights her confusion and inability to comprehend why she was attracted to this person in the first place. The realization of the futility of her love is also evident in the line "I need this broken heart to be gone".

The chorus of the song shows the passage of time as a means of healing her heartache. She waits for the clock to tick away her hurt, hoping that with every passing moment, the pain will become less intense. However, despite the passage of time, thinking of the person she was involved with still brings about memories and pain. She acknowledges the need to move on from this toxic love and how difficult it is to let go. The powerful sentiment of "I'm not waiting, I'm done hurting, I'm done waiting for the clock to tick, tick my hurt away" showcases her determination to walk away and not allow herself to be hurt any further.

Overall, "Tick Tick" is a heartfelt song that delves into the complex emotions of heartbreak and the difficulty of letting go. It is relatable to anyone who has experienced the pain of a failed relationship and the struggle to move forward.

Oohh the cold bitch one, yes!
My mother taught me when I was 12 that when a boy/guy tells me that he wants to buy me something small (let's say between 0,50 or 3 euro's. Like a hotdogbun or a peppermint-roll) then I have to stop him for a moment and think.
She said; 'You don't owe them anything, but they might think you do. So, look at them for a second and think to yourself; Is there ány way this can become a relationship? Ány way I might kiss him or something?"
If you are in doubt, then you can let him pay, but not anything over 3 euro's.
If you don't like the guy in that way, be immediately clear with him.
Before he pays, lean over, grab his arm gently, smile politely and say quietly to protect his privacy (but still very clearly to him) "Thanks, I just want you to know that I think of you as a good friend!"
You then nod, smile and lean back."

I asked what'd happen and she said; 'You'll realise immediately if they are good friends or not. If they are a good friend, they will thank you and buy you the peppermint-roll.'

I have done this several times, with several guys and boys, every time before they pay anything for me. Even the smallest things, like offering to share a bag of crisps or pay extra for ice in my drink.
And ever time I thanked them for being a good friend, they have done one of the following;
- Got a frozen face, stared me in the eyes angrily and said; 'Nevermind' and walked off.
- Slammed their hand on the marketstall/counter and said; 'Oh so you were leading me on?!'
- Thrown their wallet on the floor, stamped their feet and shouted; WHY WHY WHY? WHY?!!!
- Scream loudly and grab their wallet and walk away quickly, never to talk to me again
- Turn to the lady behind the counter and say loudly; 'ONLY ONE HOTDOGBUN PLEASE.' And then stare at me angrily and whisper; 'Pff pay for yourself.'
- Ask me why I'd say that and try to counterargue they were not a good friend at all. I said it was friendly of them to offer to pay and they'd say; 'Hmm..well..yeah..hm..I don't want that anymore. I'm going home.'

The last one was the friendliest, I think.
But I have never had a man actually pay for the Mars-bar or hotdogbun.
Unless you count 2 people that did, but then immediately (as I took a bite) said that they now wanted me to be their girlfriend, because they paid for me and I owed them.
None of them were real friends, all of them had other motives.

We're no strangers to love
You know the rules and so do I
A full commitment's what I'm thinking of
You wouldn't get this from any other guy
I just wanna tell you how I'm feeling
Gotta make you understand
Never gonna give you up
Never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and desert you
Never gonna make you cry
Never gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you
We've known each other for so long
Your heart's been aching but you're too shy to say it
Inside we both know what's been going on
We know the game and we're gonna play it
