Born and raised in Michigan, Madonna moved to New York City in 1978 to pursue a career in modern dance. After performing as a drummer, guitarist, and vocalist in the rock bands Breakfast Club and Emmy, she rose to solo stardom with her debut studio album, Madonna (1983). She followed it with a series of successful albums, including all-time bestsellers Like a Virgin (1984) and True Blue (1986) as well as Grammy Award winners Ray of Light (1998) and Confessions on a Dance Floor (2005). Madonna has amassed many number-one singles throughout her career, including "Like a Virgin", "La Isla Bonita", "Like a Prayer", "Vogue", "Take a Bow", "Frozen", "Music", "Hung Up", and "4 Minutes".
Madonna's popularity was enhanced by roles in films such as Desperately Seeking Susan (1985), Dick Tracy (1990), A League of Their Own (1992), and Evita (1996). While Evita won her a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress, many of her other films received poor reviews. As a businesswoman, Madonna founded the company Maverick in 1992; it included Maverick Records, one of the most successful artist-run labels in history. Her other ventures include fashion brands, children's books, health clubs, and filmmaking. She contributes to various charities, having founded the Ray of Light Foundation in 1998 and Raising Malawi in 2006.
With sales of over 300 million records worldwide, Madonna is certified as the best-selling female recording artist of all time by Guinness World Records. She is the most successful solo artist in the history of the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart and holds the record for the most number-one singles by a female artist in Australia, Canada, Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom. With a revenue of U.S. $1.5 billion from her concert tickets, she remains the highest-grossing solo touring artist of all time. Madonna was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2008, her first year of eligibility. She was ranked as the greatest woman in music by VH1 in 2012, and as the greatest music video artist of all time by MTV in 2003 and Billboard in 2020. Rolling Stone also listed Madonna among the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time and the 100 Greatest Songwriters of All Time.

You give me fever
Never know how much I love you
Never know how much I care
When you put your arms around me
I get a fever that's so hard to bear
Listen to me baby, hear every word I say
'Cause they don't know how to love you my way
You give me fever, when you kiss me
Fever when you hold me tight
Fever in the morning
Fever all through the night
Sun lights up the daytime
Moon lights up the night
My eyes light up when you call my name
'Cause I know you're gonna treat me right
Bless my soul I love you, take this heart away
Take these arms I'll never use
And just believe in what my lips have to say
You give me fever, when you kiss me
Fever when you hold me tight
Fever in the morning
Fever all through the night
Everybody's got the fever
That is something you should know
Fever isn't such a new scene
Fever started long ago
You give me fever, fever
You give me, you give me fever (fever, fever, fever)
You give me fever, when you kiss me
Fever when you hold me tight
Fever in the morning
Fever all through the night
Romeo loved Juliet
Juliet, she felt the same
When he put his arms around her
He said Julie baby, you're my flame
He gave her fever
Sun lights up the daytime
Moon lights up the night
My eyes light up when you call my name
'Cause I know you're gonna treat me right
You give me fever, when you kiss me
Fever when you hold me tight
Fever in the morning
Fever all through the night
Fever, with his kisses
Fever when he holds me tight
Everybody's got the fever
That is something you should know
Fever isn't such a new scene
Fever started long ago (fever)
Captain Smith and Pocahontas
Had a very mad affair
When her daddy tried to kill him
She said, "Daddy, oh don't you dare
He gives me fever
With his kisses
Fever when he holds me tight
Fever, I'm his missus
Daddy, won't you treat him right" (fever)
Fever, when you kiss them
Fever, if you live and learn
Fever, 'til you sizzle
What a lovely way to burn
What a lovely way to burn
What a lovely way to burn
Madonna's song βFeverβ is a love song that starts with the singer professing her love for someone who gives her a fever that is hard to bear. She speaks of her intense love and care for this person and how no one else can love him the way that she does. The chorus reveals that he gives her fever every time he kisses her or holds her tight.
Madonna also sings about how everybody has the fever, and that it is not a new phenomenon. She alludes to Romeo and Julietβs love affair and how they gave each other fever with their intense love. She also references Captain Smith and Pocahontasβs love, which her father opposed but couldnβt resist because he was giving her fever.
The lyrics suggest that the fever Madonna sings about is not just about physical attraction but also an intense emotional connection. The songβs upbeat tempo and instrumentation convey the message of passion and love thatβs hard to resist.

The style still holds up, and much better than recent mainstream stuff. Great house version. Her legacy is aging very well, thanks Madonna!

90s Madonna will always be my fav decade of hers. So much art and creativity in just a span of 10 years came out from her, and her voice was at its peak here too <3

I just love this album so much, I wore it out to death, back when it came out in 1992..... the tape actually broke, but I didnβt care,I just went back to the music store and got another copy of βEroticaβ !this is one of my favorites on this record! And the video became one of my favorites too! π§‘π§‘π§‘

This is probably my favorite video of all time. The silver paint alone. Madonna is a goddess, and Sednoui is a visionary.

I've always loved how the effects in the background (the smoke clouds and those disco-ball-like things) react to the beat of the music.
It's all in the details; goes to show how much thought went into everything Madonna did!

Groundbreaking album far ahead of itβs time, it challenged stereotypes about female sexuality.
It was deemed a βcareer-ending albumβ upon its release, 28 years later it is hailed as a revolutionary masterpiece.
