Born and raised in Michigan, Madonna moved to New York City in 1978 to pursue a career in modern dance. After performing as a drummer, guitarist, and vocalist in the rock bands Breakfast Club and Emmy, she rose to solo stardom with her debut studio album, Madonna (1983). She followed it with a series of successful albums, including all-time bestsellers Like a Virgin (1984) and True Blue (1986) as well as Grammy Award winners Ray of Light (1998) and Confessions on a Dance Floor (2005). With sales of over 300 million records worldwide, Madonna is certified as the best-selling female recording artist of all time by Guinness World Records. Boy this takes me back again. I have heard this track EVERY Christmas Eve since it came out, for real. I remember hearing it in the late 80s on the Eve and not having a party to go to but it still made me feel okay. Been a tradition since for me. Just one of those personal things we have. it's not about the music, it's about the intense feeling and raw emotion conveyed through the sounds and the lyrics. this song seems to reach out and say "let go, enjoy life, fck what other people think" a flat out refusal to let life get her down, which comes out as this hard driving sound with all this depth and attitude to it

Been on an 80's pop binge recently, I can't help feeling that that positive era of real creativity and the desire to make catchy and fun songs will never again be replicated. For a time in the early 2000's there was a hint of a comeback but it all turned out to be a flash in the pan with a few years of good stuff and it fizzled out. I am a diverse music fan, but honestly the 80's was so good. I just want to go back there every time I here the beats, synths, & shadowy production.

This entire album was the soundtrack of my junior high years. And this song was one if my favorites along with White Heat, which was never released as a single. Majority comment here are from people having age between 345-55 years, everyone has some special memories with this song (or any of Madonna song) when they were young in 80's. But I must say, that was the best time when quality of music was delivered.
