A Spanish band from Sevilla (Spain) with David García (drums), Javier Vega (bass) & Miguel Rivera (vocals, lyrics, keyboard and guitar)
They took the name of Maga from a character of Julio Cortázar's book "Rayuela".
Their 1st EP (Bidimensional) was one of the best EP's in Spain as said spanish music magazines as Muzikalia or Rockdelux. In 2002 they release Their first album Maga (The white one). In 2004, they record their second album Maga (the black one), and in 2006 the third, named Maga too (red) .
Psychodelic lyrics for a polite band.
Maga is also a solo project by Marc Fien, who started drumming when he was 6 and has played in a variety of bands and projects since. To name but a few: ‘Osiris’, ‘Hookah’, ‘Ominous Tribe’, ‘Rosenbaum Trio’, ‘Sand/Elephantum’ and ‘Tegenpolen (live band)’. With his love for stoner rock, funk, techno, drum & bass and many other styles he became a resident dj in ‘t Ukien (the place to be in Kampen city, the Netherlands) for 7 years. In this period his craze for digital expression took flight and the MAGA project was born.

se descomponen, hoy se retiran
se desvanecen finalmente
su olor se queda
y sus huellas se olvidan.
Hoy yo no quiero vivir
en la ciudad más triste
y si me dejan huir
descalzo y de puntillas
que Dios se ha ido a dormir.
He vuelto al río
y donde estaba mi casa
hoy sólo encuentro cruces y lanzas
pasó el domingo y el silencio
como el cobarde ni perdona ni paga.
Hoy yo no quiero vivir
en la ciudad más triste
que llora por afición
y si me dejan huir
descalzo y de puntillas
que Dios se ha ido a dormir.
Levanto cartas
jugué a mano perdida
los ganadores
ya vienen por la esquina.
Hoy yo no quiero vivir
en la ciudad más triste
que llora por afición
y si me dejan huir
descalzo y de puntillas
que Dios se ha ido a dormir.
The lyrics of Maga's song "Silencio" mournfully express the loss of a once-bustling city that has now become desolate and filled with sorrow. The opening verse speaks of defeated processions disappearing and leaving behind only their scent and forgotten footprints. The following verse communicates the desire to escape from the saddest city, where people cry for the sake of it, and where even God seems to have gone to sleep. The singer yearns to return to his childhood home by the river, but instead, he finds only crosses and lances.
The chorus is perhaps the most striking part of the song, as it repeats the sentiment that the singer does not wish to live in the saddest city and wants to escape. The final verse seems to convey a sense of desperation as the singer states he has played his cards poorly and feels like he has already lost before the game has even begun. The "winners" are already on their way, and it's unclear if there's anything he can do to prevent their arrival.
Overall, the song's theme is one of loss and a longing for a return to a simpler time. It's a mournful ballad that portrays the sadness and despair that comes with the realization that the past cannot be recovered.
