The Words I Never Said
Mage Ft Skylar Grey Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

It's so loud inside my head
With words that I should have said
As I drown in my regrets
I can't take back the words I never said
I can't take back the words I never said

I really think the war on terror is a bunch of bullshit
Just a poor excuse for you to use up all your bullets
How much money does it take to really make a full clip
Nine eleven building seven did they really pull it?
Uh, and a bunch of other cover ups
Your child's future was the first to go with budget cuts
If you think that hurts then, wait here comes the uppercut
The school was garbage in the first place, that's on the up and up
Keep you at the bottom but tease you with the upper crust
You get it then they move you so you never keeping up enough
If you turn on TV all you see's a bunch of "what the fucks"
Dude is dating so and so blabbering bout such and such
And that ain't Jersey Shore, homie that's the news
And these the same people that supposed to be telling us the truth
Limbaugh is a racist, Glenn Beck is a racist
Gaza strip was getting bombed, Obama didn't say shit
That's why I ain't vote for him, next one either
I'ma part of the problem, my problem is I'm peaceful
And I believe in the people
Yeah

It's so loud inside my head
With words that I should have said!
As I drown in my regrets
I can't take back the words I never said
I can't take back the words I never said

Now you can say it ain't our fault if we never heard it
But if we know better than we probably deserve it
Jihad is not a holy war, wheres that in the worship?
Murdering is not Islam!
And you are not observant
And you are not a Muslim
Israel don't take my side 'cause look how far you've pushed them
Walk with me into the ghetto, this where all the Kush went
Complain about the liquor store but what you drinking liquor for?
Complain about the gloom but when'd you pick a broom up?
Just listening to Pac ain't gone make it stop
A rebel in your thoughts, ain't gon' make it halt
If you don't become an actor you'll never be a factor
Pills with million side effects
Take 'em when the pains felt
Wash them down with diet soda
Killin' off your brain cells
Crooked banks around the World
Would gladly give a loan today
So if you ever miss a payment
They can take your home away

It's so loud inside my head
With words that I should have said!
As I drown in my regrets
I can't take back the words I never said, never said
I can't take back the words I never said

I think that all the silence is worse than all the violence
Fear is such a weak emotion that's why I despise it
We scared of almost everything, afraid to even tell the truth
So scared of what you think of me, I'm scared of even telling you
Sometimes I'm like the only person I feel safe to tell it to
I'm locked inside a cell in me, I know that there's a jail in you
Consider this your bailing out, so take a breath, inhale a few
My screams is finally getting free, my thoughts is finally yelling through

It's so loud inside my head
With words that I should have said

As I drown in my regrets
I can't take back the words I never said

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Mage Ft Skylar Grey's song, The Words I Never Said, express frustration with the current state of affairs, particularly in the political and social spheres. The opening lines invoke a sense of regret for missed opportunities to speak out. This sets the stage for a critique of US foreign policy and the effects of budget cuts on education. The song calls out the mainstream media for its focus on trivial matters like celebrity gossip while ignoring important issues like racism and war. The artist also expresses disillusionment with politicians, including Obama, for not speaking out against injustices such as the bombing of the Gaza Strip. The lyrics suggest that fear and silence are more harmful than violence, and urges listeners to speak out and take action for change.

Overall, the song is a powerful call to action, encouraging listeners to reject apathy and take a stand. The artist draws attention to important social issues and encourages critical thinking, challenging the status quo and the mainstream narratives that dominate the media.

Lyrics:
Always in a rush
Never stay on the phone long enough
Why am I so self-important?
Said I'd see you soon
That was, oh, maybe a year ago
Didn't know time was of the essence
So many questions
But I'm talking to myself
I know that you can't hear me anymore
Not anymore
So much to tell you
And most of all goodbye
But I know that you can't hear me anymore

It's so loud inside my head
With words that I should have said
As I drown in my regrets
I can't take back the words I never said
I never said
I can't take back the words I never said
Always talking shit
Took your advice and did the opposite
Just being young and stupid
I haven't been all that you could've hoped for
But if you'd held on a little longer
You'd have had more reasons to be proud
So many questions
But I'm talking to myself
I know that you can't hear me any more
Not anymore
So much to tell you
And most of all goodbye
But I know that you can't hear me any more
It's so loud inside my head
With words that I should have said
And as I drown in my regrets
I can't take back the words

The longer I stand here
The louder the silence
I know that you're gone but sometimes I swear that I hear
Your voice when the wind blows
So I talk to the shadows
Hoping you might be listening ‘cos I want you to know
It's so loud inside my head
With words that I should have said
And as I drown in my regrets
I can't take back the words I never said
I never said
I can't take back the words I never said
Never said
I can't take back the words I never said

Actually funny coincidence. I saw his play and was astonished by his speed, couldn't really understand anything regarding the song though. A few days later (i believe, maybe i got it recommended before i've seen his play) i got the song recommended on yt. Title got me interested and i immediately fell in love with the song. So most likely he brought me here aswell, without me even realizing he played the song until now.
