One Woman One Man
Magic! Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I am a sinner, as cold as the winter
She is the sun, she is the queen of love
I am a burden, always uncertain
She is a raft, only believes in us

And I know that she cries by the red in her eyes
She's been waiting for signs that never call
All she ever really wanted was

One woman, one man
That's all that she asks
No other demands
One woman, one man

I am a loser, I only confuse her
She is the sail, no matter where we go
Tradition in evades pass down
The way I live is far too gone
Oh I wish it wasn't so (Lord I wish it wasn't so)

And I know that she cries by the red in her eyes
She's been waiting for signs that never call
All she ever really wanted was

One woman, one man
That's all that she asks
No other demands
One woman, one man, yeah

One woman, one man
That's all that she asks

One woman, one man (One woman, one man)
One woman, one man
? That's all that she asks
One woman, one man (One woman, one man)
One woman, one man
? (One woman, one man)
Woah (One woman, one man)
Eh eh (One woman, one man)
One woman, one man
One woman, one man
One woman, one man

One woman, one man
One woman, one man

Overall Meaning

In Magic!'s song "One Woman One Man," the singer begins by acknowledging his own shortcomings as a "sinner, as cold as the winter," while introducing the woman as "the sun," the "queen of love," and his "raft" who "only believes in us." As the song progresses, he continues to contrast himself to her, calling himself a "loser" and admitting that he only "confuses her," while she is his "sail" that he follows no matter where they go. The song continues to evoke a sense of longing and regret as the singer recognizes that the woman has been "waiting for signs that never call" and that her only true desire is for "one woman, one man."

The lyrics to "One Woman One Man" continue to paint a picture of a relationship plagued by doubt and uncertainty, but ultimately sustained by the woman's steadfast love and commitment. The refrain of "one woman, one man" serves as a simple yet powerful expression of this commitment, highlighting the simplicity and purity of the woman's desires in contrast to the singer's acknowledgment of his own flaws and failures. The song ends with several repetitions of the refrain, underscoring the emphasis on this central desire for a committed, one-on-one relationship.

Very exhaustive week. Wasn't feeling well due to tiredness of so much Physical activity, work, and getting ready for college Fall Semester I. I was driving and decided to play my music as I always do. Felt like hearing music on mp3 after hearing XM and FM radio. Every now and then I like to listen to upbeat catchy classics as well as songs that have lyrics that give me direction into the meaning of life/our existence. This song came on while on shuffle. I forgot I had it. 1st heard it in Summer 2014 before getting my vehicle fixed and then rushing for lab work prior to my 1st major Knee surgery. Felt so scared at the time but for some reason this song helped calm my fears. I know it sounds so melancholy and a bit sad hearing how the lyrics convey the woman desperately trying to reach her man in vain. It's a cry for him to realize time is passing so quickly as we all age and not knowing when our final BREATH is or if one will live with the regret of not trying so damn hard on their part to realize he may never see her again.
Love the part where it says: "One Woman, One Man, no other demands. That's all that she asks."

These lyrics fit perfectly how I feel even now more than ever only because money, expensive items, power, wealth, etc. honestly hasn't ever mattered to me and still doesn't til this day. Only thing I cherish is one's life, the humor, the memories of spending valuable time with them, and feeling it in return. That's it. I've lived far too many times losing people I love and missing their presence but knowing they are in a better place. Still it doesn't ease the sadness. I guess growing up and maturing with time gracefully made me realize what is really to be cherished and what is really significant. Without the people we love ever so much and do think about with much respect has given me a much clearer perspective. I hope this makes sense.

It is a tear jerker but the song is so lovely. So calming. One starts to go back in time to remember the simple memories that made life worthwhile and good. Then realizing certain things were actually trivial took away what mattered. The Force and higher power that brought each of us on the other's path. All under divine power without our control.

"She is a raft, only believes in us

And I know that SHE CRIES BY THE RED IN HER EYES
She's been waiting for signs that never call
ALL SHE EVER REALLY WANTED WAS

ONE WOMAN, ONE MAN
That's all that she asks
NO OTHER DEMANDS
One woman, one man."
