Magnets Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I couldn't see that we were lovers I had never touched you
I seemed so certain that we'd only ever be just good friends
Woke up one morning I refused to let you out of my head
And I still want you, every time I see you again
Chorus:
I still want you
(I'm dreaming think I'm crazy, maybe you can save me
I still want you
(I'm dreaming think I'm crazy, maybe you can save me
Probably 'cause you tell all the things I don't do)
Don't leave me now I'd be so lost so indigo without you
I can't survive with only memories to see me through
You're all I need, don't cross me now that I'm high
You're all I need now, you're all I need now
And still I want you, every time I see you again
Chorus
6x:
I still, I still... Everytime that I see you
In Magnets' song Still, the singer admits to being blind to the love that was in front of them. They say that there was a time when love was blind and that they couldn't see that they were lovers. This suggests that the singer was in denial about their feelings for this person, perhaps because they were afraid of getting hurt, or they were trying to maintain a certain kind of relationship. They then describe how they woke up one morning and refused to let the person out of their head. This implies that they finally realized their true feelings and wanted to take action.
The chorus of the song repeats the statement "I still want you." This repetition creates a sense of urgency and desperation, as if the singer is pleading with this person to give them another chance. They admit to being dreamy and maybe even a little bit crazy, but they hope that this person can save them. They imply that the person can save them because they know all the things that the singer doesn't do, which suggests that they complement each other in some way.
The second verse of the song continues this theme of desperation and neediness. The singer says that they can't survive with only memories to see them through and that they need this person in their life. They call this person "all I need" and say that they don't want them to leave now that the singer is finally high on their love. The use of the word "indigo" suggests that the singer is feeling blue and depressed without this person in their life.
Overall, the song Still is a powerful expression of love and longing. It speaks to the universal human experience of falling for someone who may not feel the same way or who we may be too afraid to confess our feelings to. The repetition of the phrase "I still want you" creates a sense of yearning and desire that is hard to ignore. Despite the sadness and desperation in the lyrics, the song is also incredibly beautiful and showcases Magnets' impressive vocal range and emotive style.
