Bosangero Nero
Magnifico Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I don't know much about no globalization
I've never heard nothing about no emigration
I don't know much about the Middle East situation
Sorry, I belong to a parallel civilization

So, mister policeman, let me go
Mister policeman, I don't know
I'm just a Bosangero
They call me Bosangero Nero
I'm always on the run
Just following the sun
Mister, I am not the one

'Cos I'm just a Bosangero
They call me Bosangero Nero
I'm always on the run
Just following the sun
Mister, I am not the one

I don't know much about no pollution
I've never heard nothing about the digital revolution
I don't know much about no genetic mutation
Sorry, I belong to a parallel civilization

So, mister policeman, let me go
Mister policeman, I don't know

I'm just a Bosangero
They call me Bosangero Nero
I'm always on the run
Just following the sun
Mister, I am not the one

'Cos I'm just a Bosangero
They call me Bosangero Nero
I'm always on the run
Just following the sun
Mister, I am not the one

I'm just a Bosangero
They call me Bosangero Nero
I'm always on the run
Just following the sun
Mister, I am not the one

'Cos I'm just a Bosangero
They call me Bosangero Nero
I'm always on the run

Just following the sun
Mister, I am not the one

Overall Meaning

The song "Bosangero Nero" by Magnifico may seem like a simple, upbeat tune, but it actually has quite a complex message to it. Through the lyrics, the artist is expressing his ignorance of global issues (such as globalization, emigration, the Middle East situation, pollution, digital revolution, and genetic mutation), but rather than pleading ignorance as an excuse, he uses his lack of knowledge towards these issues to declare that he belongs to a parallel civilization. This could be interpreted as a way of rejecting the dominant culture and its values, and instead opting to live his life on his own terms, as a Bosangero Nero (which roughly translates to "Black Wanderer").

The chorus of the song, where he repeats "I'm just a Bosangero, they call me Bosangero Nero, I'm always on the run, just following the sun, mister, I am not the one" reinforces the idea of the artist being a wanderer, always moving forward and not fitting into any particular mold or societal expectation. By declaring himself as not being "the one," he distances himself from any responsibility or burden that comes with being part of the dominant society. Thus, the song could be seen as a form of socially conscious commentary, critiquing the state of the world and those who have a hand in shaping it.

@noegojimmy

I am Bosangero and used to live in Slovenia and I knew a few guys(mostly good - some bad) he is talking about (I wasn't "Nero"). Actually he is half talking about truth and half about other's perception.
This song is all: comedy, truth, satire, drama... I love the western feel to it.
Magnifico is the King. I'll never forget the first time I went to his concert.
