1) Magnum is an English hard rock band. They were formed in Birmingham by Tony Clarkin (guitar, songwriter, RIP) and Bob Catley (vocals) in order to appear as the resident band at the Rum Runner nightclub in the city. Magnum have undergone several changes in personnel over the years; however, the core of Catley and Clarkin remain.
Magnum's most significant early success was Chase the Dragon in 1982, which reached number 17 in the UK Albums Chart. It included several songs that would become mainstays of the band's live set, notably "Soldier of the Line", "Sacred Hour" and "The Spirit". On a Storyteller's Night gave the band its breakthrough in Europe, and achieved a Gold certification in the United Kingdom. The band's 1986 album Vigilante represented a further move towards the mainstream before the band achieved their commercial peak in 1988 when they entered the UK Top Ten for the first time with the album Wings of Heaven, which reached number five and featured three Top 40 singles, "Days of No Trust", "Start Talking Love" and "It Must Have Been Love". It was followed by Goodnight L.A., which was produced by Keith Olsen and reached number nine in the UK Album Chart in 1990. It produced another Top 40 single for the band, "Rockin' Chair".
In 1995, Clarkin announced Magnum's split; however, Clarkin and Catley continued working together, now under the name Hard Rain, until 1999. Magnum reformed in 2001 and has enjoyed late-career commercial success. Their most recent album, The Monster Roars, was released in January 2022.

Changes
Magnum Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
It was destroyed and swept away
It is replaced by something I can't see
To stay forever and always
I'm going through changes
So many changes
I'm losing my senses don't know what to do
We really should try and talk it out
Avoid the same mistake again
But I can see that there will be no doubt
Looks like we have reached the end
I'm going through changes
So many changes
I'm losing my senses don't know what to do
I'll go through my changes faster than you
Is there no one
Who feels the same as me?
I'm going through changes
So many changes
I'm losing my senses don't know what to do
I'm going through changes
So many changes
I'm losing my senses don't know what to do
I'm going through changes
Going through changes, yeah, yeah
Going through changes, yeah, yeah
Going through changes, yeah, yeah
Going through changes, yeah, yeah
The song "Changes" by Magnum is a soulful ballad about the turmoil one goes through when undergoing a significant change. The lyrics talk about the singer's feelings of isolation and the loss of familiarity, indicating that something familiar and important to them has been destroyed and replaced with something unknown. The words suggest that the change occurred abruptly and without warning, which has left the singer feeling at a loss and without any support around them.
The phrase "I'm going through changes" echoes throughout the song, emphasizing the recurring theme of change. The repetition of the phrase implies that the singer is trying to reaffirm the significance of the shift they are experiencing. The lyrics "I'm losing my senses don't know what to do" suggests that the singer feels lost, unnerved and unsure about which direction life is taking them, which is a common feeling when changes occur suddenly and significantly.
The chorus of the song suggests that the singer is in a hurry, that they want to complete the changes faster than whoever is around them, possibly because they want to put the past behind or move on from a broken relationship or situation. The final lines of the song express a deep sense of loneliness and a desire for someone to understand their situation, as if the singer feels like nobody else can comprehend the changes that they are going through.
