1) Magnum is an English hard rock band. They were formed in Birmingham by Tony Clarkin (guitar, songwriter, RIP) and Bob Catley (vocals) in order to appear as the resident band at the Rum Runner nightclub in the city. Magnum have undergone several changes in personnel over the years; however, the core of Catley and Clarkin remain.
Magnum's most significant early success was Chase the Dragon in 1982, which reached number 17 in the UK Albums Chart. It included several songs that would become mainstays of the band's live set, notably "Soldier of the Line", "Sacred Hour" and "The Spirit". On a Storyteller's Night gave the band its breakthrough in Europe, and achieved a Gold certification in the United Kingdom. The band's 1986 album Vigilante represented a further move towards the mainstream before the band achieved their commercial peak in 1988 when they entered the UK Top Ten for the first time with the album Wings of Heaven, which reached number five and featured three Top 40 singles, "Days of No Trust", "Start Talking Love" and "It Must Have Been Love". It was followed by Goodnight L.A., which was produced by Keith Olsen and reached number nine in the UK Album Chart in 1990. It produced another Top 40 single for the band, "Rockin' Chair".
In 1995, Clarkin announced Magnum's split; however, Clarkin and Catley continued working together, now under the name Hard Rain, until 1999. Magnum reformed in 2001 and has enjoyed late-career commercial success. Their most recent album, The Monster Roars, was released in January 2022.

Dream About You
Magnum Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Something's happening to me
'Cause every night feels like the longest
And every hour's eternity
'Cause I can't have you like I wanted to
I got nothing without you
I got my arms around you
Yeah, dream about you
Ain't nothing else I can do
I want to be where you are
No matter near or how far
So now I dream about you
I'd never thought I'd feel defenceless
Nothing mattered much to me
The sun goes down, I get restless
All those same old memories
'Cause I can't have you like I wanted to
I got nothing without you
So now I dream about you
I got my arms around you
Yeah, dream about you
Ain't nothing else I can do
I want to be where you are
No matter near or how far
I know your touch
Your look, your every word
Can you hear me, baby?
I want you back again into my world
So now I dream about you
I got my arms around you
Yeah, dream about you
Ain't nothing else I can do
I want to be where you are
No matter near or how far
So now I dream about you
I want to dream about you
All my life
No matter near or far
I promise, promise I'll be where you are
I'm going to dream about you
The lyrics of Magnum's song Dream About You are a testament to the pain of unrequited love. The singer expresses his helplessness and restlessness, unable to shake the memory of the person he desires. He longs for their touch and every word, and even in his dreams, he holds them close. The pain of not being able to have the one he loves is all-consuming, and the only solace he finds is in his dreams.
The repetition of the chorus highlights the desperation of the singer's situation, "So now I dream about you, I got my arms around you, Yeah, dream about you, Ain't nothing else I can do." He is at the mercy of his emotions, unable to move on or find closure.
However, the lyrics end on a hopeful note with the singer promising to always dream about the person he loves and to be where they are. This is a testament to the power of love and its ability to endure despite obstacles.
Overall, Dream About You is a poignant and relatable song about the pain of unrequited love and the lengths we will go to hold onto someone we cannot have.
