Roller Coaster
Major Maker Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I'm a roller coaster turning round
You look me up when I'm Upside down
Turn on my junebox follw me
We come together endlesly

Wao Wao Wao Wao Wao Wao Wao Wao

We roller skate on the boulavard
All the fancy people in their fancy cars
We'll watch the waves come crashin in
I'll see the salt sparkle on you skin
Take me on your faris wheel
On the avenue
Let me take you by the hand
Cast a spell on you

I'm a roller coaster turning round
You look me up when I'm Upside down
Turn on my junebox follw me
We come together endlesly

Wao Wao Wao Wao Wao Wao Wao Wao

Kissing on the boardwalk after dark
Sit and watch the fireworks in the park
I will be your water fall
Spilling in your sky
A real romance everytime we dance
Magic light in your hair
On the avenue

I'm a roller coaster turning round
You look me up when I'm Upside down
Turn on my junebox follw me
We come together endlesly

I'm a roller coaster turning round
You look me up when I'm Upside down
Turn on my junebox follw me
We come together endlesly

Wao Wao Wao Wao Wao Wao Wao Wao

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Major Maker's song Rollercoaster describe a whirlwind romance, much like the ups and downs of a roller coaster. The line "I'm a roller coaster turning round" can be interpreted as the singer comparing their emotional state to a roller coaster, constantly fluctuating and unpredictable. The lyrics also mention being looked up when upside down, which could represent vulnerability and the other person helping to ground them.

The chorus repeats the line "Turn on my junebox follow me, we come together endlessly" which could be interpreted as the singer inviting their love interest to join them on their wild ride, trusting that they will always come together in the end. The lyrics also mention roller skating on the boulevard and watching fancy people in their fancy cars, implying a carefree and rebellious attitude towards societal norms.

The second verse continues to describe moments of intimate connection with the love interest, such as kissing on the boardwalk and watching fireworks in the park. The line "A real romance everytime we dance, magic light in your hair on the avenue" suggests a nostalgic and romantic view of dancing in the city streets.

Overall, the lyrics of Rollercoaster convey a sense of adventure, passion, and unpredictability in a whirlwind romance.

Okay, this song randomly came to me earlier today and I figured I'd look it up. I remember hearing this on a commercial back in 2008 or so and paying $0.99 for it on iTunes on my iPhone 3G and listening it to repeat in my room at my parents' house.

I have to admit that as I typed it in today (September 30, 2022) I FULLY EXPECTED it to be one of those "2000s classics" videos with 10s of millions or 100s of millions of views. Wouldn't even have batted an eye if I saw "Major Maker - Rollercoaster (1,000,000,000 views)".

To be honest I had no idea they were an indie group, or even a Toronto group for that matter (I'm Toronto born and raised), so that had me thinking they were "on that scale".

I'm SHOCKED that this only has about 218,000 views after 15 years! This is truly unbelievable to me. I seriously thought this was a widely popular song that everybody must know... and I'm actually kind of saddened that isn't the case.

With that being said, I'll be playing this song for people at every opportunity. Putting it on the bluetooth speaker at parties, slipping the DJ $20 at the club to play it next, the lot. Let everybody Shazam it and deservedly bring it into the sphere of fame and glory.

Listening to this song back during the summer of 2007 was probably one of the few happy moments for me during that particular time of my life (as it was quite a miserable time for me, due to me being unemployed for nearly six months back then).

Of course, little did I realize at the time that little over a year later, in October 2008, I would suffer a nervous breakdown that would consequently keep me unemployed for over three and-a-year years (even though I did study Accounting at Seneca College during the interim from May 2009 to August 2010). Even today (in February 2014), I am now only beginning to slowly recover from this traumatic event in my life.

In fact, in my comments which I made about this video back around 2007 to 2009, I also probably made reference to former Denver Broncos Cheerleader Renee Herlocker in them (as I was quite smitten with her back then). At least I now know that the stressors behind this were not only considerable social isolation, but also (at the time) co-existing w/a roommate who was a psychopath-narcissist bully as well (and someone whom I was not even on speaking terms with).

(Btw, Renee Herlocker also happens to have her own channel on YouTube.)

On a final note, I officially joined the Toastmasters (the well-known public speaking organization) back on Tuesday, July 9, 2013. Not only has joining the Toastmasters made me realize what it is like to be in a supportive environment for the first time in my life at nearly 44 years of age [as I never, ever received very much in the way of unconditional love and support from both my parents, as well as my older sister (who always made me feel like I was the black sheep of the family) while I was growing up], but also, in the seven months that I have officially been in the Toastmasters, I also have become more at ease when it comes to social interaction with other people in society nowadays (along with having discovered my natural speaking talent as well).

And, ironically, it was another former Denver Broncos Cheerleader named Amanda Lofland who both inspired and motivated me to join the Toastmasters in the first place (especially when I ascertained on the Internet that she was engaged to be married on Monday, January 28, 2013). Even though I have a very controversial history w.r.t. Amanda Lofland (things got so bad between Amanda and me that Scott Bliek, the director of security for the Denver Broncos, even had to intervene on her behalf back on Tuesday, August 17, 2010), there is just something about her spiritually which appears to bring out the best in me, along with leading me to believe that I always unconditionally love Amanda Lofland deep within my heart, no matter what. [For the record, I did not even become aware of Amanda until February 2009 (as the 2008 NFL season was her rookie season as a Denver Broncos Cheerleader).]

Lastly, I will just finish by remarking that not only does Amanda Lofland have her own video on YouTube called "cooking pasta.mov" (I have been on a silent quest in order to get more people to notice her video), but also, coincidentally, both Amanda Lofland and Renee Herlocker now reside in the Los Angeles suburb of Manhattan Beach, California as well.

@welcomeblack

What was the commercial that convinced them to make it a full song? Wasn't it gushers or something?
