As Gulddreng, he saw his first seven singles all reaching #1 on the Danish Top 40 Tracks chart. Ebert began going by his own name in September 2017, announcing his intention to withdraw the Gulddreng character by February 2018.

In June 2018, Malte Ebert released "Rather Be", his debut single under his own name. The song peaked at #3 on the Danish Top 40 Tracks chart.
