Maná followed with Sueños Líquidos (1997), Revolución de Amor (2002), and Amar es Combatir (2007), which continued the group's success. The band's most recent album, Drama y Luz, was released in April 2011.
The band's sound draws from the pop rock, Latin pop, calypso, reggae and ska music genres. They initially received international commercial success in Australia and Spain and have since gained popularity and exposure in the US, Western Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. ¿Por qué me miras siempre así?
Ay, dime luna
Es que yo no, no te puedo ocultar, oh, no, no, no
Luna, me haces recordar
Te he perdido
Me fui hasta Madrid, El Cairo y New York
Hey, dime luna
¿Por qué me miras? ¿No será que estarás enamorada?
Que no te puedo ocultar, oh, no, no, no
Luna me haces recordar
Te he perdido,
Yo regalé tu perro, tu guitarra, tus anillos
Yo evité tus calles, tus antros, tus amigos
In Maná's song "Dime Luna," the singer speaks directly to the moon, questioning why it always looks at him in a certain way, and expressing his inability to move on from a lost love. He confesses to having thrown away or hidden all memories of his former lover, but still cannot escape the overwhelming sadness and yearning that the moon triggers. The singer has traveled to faraway places in an attempt to forget his past, but ultimately realizes that the moon will always serve as a reminder of what he once had and cannot regain.
The lyrics of "Dime Luna" are poignant and reflect the universal theme of lost love and the struggle to move on. The moon serves as a powerful symbol of the past that cannot be erased. The singer's attempts to escape his feelings through physical distance highlight the futility of running away from one's emotions. The song is a heartbreakingly beautiful ode to the power of memory and the inability to forget.
