Måneskin is an Italian rock band formed in Rome in 2016. The band is composed of vocalist Damiano David, bassist Victoria De Angelis, guitarist Thomas Raggi, and drummer Ethan Torchio. Performing in the streets in their early days, they rose to prominence after finishing second in the eleventh season of the Italian talent show X Factor in 2017. Their international breakthrough ensued when the foursome won the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 for Italy with the song "Zitti e Buoni".

Overall Meaning

For the ones who's struggling with the meaning of the song: "Marlena torna a casa" (Marlena come back home), Marlena it is a feminine name but is not referred to a woman, is "the inspiration", "the inner strenght". I wasn't here before Eurovision because I had never heard of them, I'm not from Italy and they're not very main stream so I don't know how I could have come across them otherwise. I would have started following them the same if they came last because I love the song. You should be happy that the band is getting so much support and love as it's probably their dream come true.

In Italy we are lucky: we know them since X Factor talent show, 4 years ago. They were so young (Damiano 18 years old, the others 16 years), but on stage they had the same charisma, beauty and power you can see now. Damiano was an unbelievable performer, like he was born on a stage. (Search on YouTube "Kiss this maneskin X Factor". And that boy was only 18 year old!! And their first songs were masterpieces. Torna a casa, for example, gave me goosebumps. I'm not young, but I'm totally in love with them and their music. Sono un occasionale fruitore di musica, dall'età un po' matura, certo non troppo attento alle novità musicali, ma quando circa tre anni fa il mio "Google home" ha suonato i primi arpeggi di "Torna a casa" ne sono stato catturato e mi sono subito interessato a cercare in Youtube questo brano, rimanendo subito colpito da quella che mi è sembrata una vera opera d'arte.
Poi sono arrivati Sanremo, e poi Eurovision, e la qualità è rimasta altissima, anche in molti dettagli di produzione..
I ragazzi del gruppo sono veramente bravi e certamente avranno contribuito molto all'eccezionale risultato raggiunto, che va però apprezzato in ogni aspetto: testi, brano, volumi, costumi, ambientazioni, scenografie, ecc.
Vivi complimenti a tutta la squadra, a tutta la produzione.

Thank you for the transcript! I have been studying Italian for a while now but I missed a few words when he doubles up the tempo - with the transcript next to the video I could follow along easily and the only word I had to look up was “spire”.
By the way: who has written these lyrics? This is pure poetry, so rich in imagery and emotion, and so open to interpretation!
