The band's launch was an immediate success with the covers of "Pavasariniai žiedai" (Spring Blossoms) and "Svetimi" (Strangers). Mango continued to achieve impressive milestones throughout their career, releasing nine albums that collectively sold over 310,000 copies. The band was recognized as the Band of the Year by Radiocentras Awards in 2000 and 2001 and by Bravo Awards in 2000.
In 2004, Mango faced a significant change when Asta Bridikytė left the group and was replaced by Lina Kaklytė. Despite the change, the band continued to produce music and entertain their audience. However, in 2007, Mango announced their retirement after releasing their third compilation of their best songs. They embarked on a farewell tour across Lithuania, including special appearances for Lithuanian communities in England, Ireland, and the United States. The final concert took place on March 31, 2008, at Šiauliai Arena, bringing an end to the band's ten-year career.
In 2014, Mango singer Rima Petrauskytė-Paulauskienė and the Bendžius brothers reunited MANGO with new members and continued releasing music under the new name "MAN-GO". Their return was a welcome development for their fans who had missed their music.
In 2018, Mango reached a significant milestone - their 20th anniversary in the Lithuanian music industry. This was a remarkable achievement for the band, and to commemorate the occasion, they released their 11th studio album, "2020". The album was an embodiment of Mango's signature sound, combining traditional Lithuanian folk music with contemporary pop beats and lyrics that celebrated love, life, and the human experience. "2020" was met with widespread acclaim from Mango's loyal fanbase and music critics alike, cementing the band's position as one of the most influential and enduring acts in Lithuanian music history.
Mango is also the stage name of a popular italian singer, born in Lagonegro, in Southern Italy (6 November 1954 – 8 December 2014). He was known for his style which fuses pop, rock, folk, world music and for his extensive vocal range. He is best known for the song "Oro", from his 1986 breakout album release Odissea. Other hits include "Lei verrà", "Mediterraneo", "Bella d'estate", "Amore per te", "Come Monnalisa", "Nella mia città" and "La rondine".
Mango has been defined by Italian music author Mario Luzzatto Fegiz as an "authentic innovator of Italian pop music" and AllMusic considers him an "Italian rock fusion innovator". He wrote songs for Italian artists such as Patty Pravo, Loredana Bertè, Andrea Bocelli, Mietta. Part of his repertoire was performed by Italian and foreign musicians, including Mina, Mia Martini, Leo Sayer, Hélène Ségara and Eleftheria Arvanitaki.

C'è una casa bianca
Con un glicine in fiore
Che sale, sale, sale su
Sulla mia città
C'è un cielo grande
Che ti spalanca il cuore
E non ti delude mai
Shalla-la
La luce mi attraversa
Quanto male fa
Ma nel parco si muove già
Una brezza che pettina il prato
E si allarga felice
Là più in là nell'infinito va
A cercare la voce tua
Che riecheggia per tutto il selciato
Lungo il viale alberato
Shalla-la nell'infinito va
Nella mia città
C'è una ferrovia
Che sferraglia da sempre
Ma non mi abbandona mai
E guardando in là
C'è rimasto un prato
Ancora un po' spelacchiato
Dove correvamo noi
Shalla-la
Il giorno sta iniziando
Un'altra volta ormai
Ed un clacson mi sveglia già
Emergendo da un mondo agitato
Che mi ero scordato
Shalla-la
Il mio canto se ne va
A cercare un'immagine che
Che bisboccia per tutta la casa
Come fosse una rosa shalla-la
Una rosa senza età
Shalla-la
Nella mia città
Shalla-la
Cara mia,
Splendida città
Shalla-la
Dolce mia città
Unica,
Shalla-la
Tenera città
Shalla-la
Nella mia città
The lyrics of "Nella Mia Città" by Mango speaks about the singer's home town and the familiar sights and sounds that make it memorable to him. The opening lines of the song describe a white house with blooming wisteria that climbs higher and higher, representing the growth and progress of the city. The singer then talks about the big sky that opens up his heart and never disappoints him.
As the song progresses, the singer talks about various other things that make his city special. He mentions the railway that has been there forever, but it still feels like a reliable companion. He also talks about a patch of grass where he used to run around, reminding him of the happy memories he shared with his friends. The chorus of the song is a repetition of "Shalla-la," which doesn't mean anything specific but adds to the overall feel of the song.
The song ends with the singer's voice fading away as he continues to search for an image of his home city that never fades away, like a rose that never loses its beauty. The song paints a beautiful picture of a city that is dear to the singer's heart, evoking emotions of nostalgia, admiration, and longing.

In my city
C'è una casa bianca
There's a white house

On my city
C'è un cielo grande
There's a big sky
Che ti spalanca il cuore
That opens up your heart
E non ti delude mai

Shalla-la
Shalla-la
La luce mi attraversa
The light passes through me
Quanto male fa
How much it hurts
Ma nel parco si muove già
But in the park, there is already movement
Una brezza che pettina il prato
A breeze that combs the grass
E si allarga felice
And spreads happily
Là più in là nell'infinito va
There, further into infinity it goes
A cercare la voce tua
To search for your voice
Che riecheggia per tutto il selciato
That echoes throughout the pavement
Lungo il viale alberato
Along the tree-lined avenue
Shalla-la nell'infinito va
Shalla-la goes into infinity
Nella mia città
In my city
C'è una ferrovia
There's a railway
Che sferraglia da sempre
That bangs around forever
Ma non mi abbandona mai
But it never abandons me
E guardando in là
And looking over there
C'è rimasto un prato
There is still a field
Ancora un po' spelacchiato
Still a bit bare
Dove correvamo noi
Where we used to run
Shalla-la
Shalla-la
Il giorno sta iniziando
The day is beginning
Un'altra volta ormai
Another time now
Ed un clacson mi sveglia già

Emerging from a busy world

That I had forgotten
Shalla-la
Shalla-la
Il mio canto se ne va
My song goes away
A cercare un'immagine che
Searching for an image that

Una rosa senza età
An ageless rose

Ho 26 anni e ringrazierò per sempre i miei genitori per avermi fatto conoscere e ascoltare fino allo sfinimento queste canzoni. Mango era a rotazione libera ogni volta che viaggiavamo in macchina per andare in vacanza. Zarrillo, Dalla, Battisti.... Grazie

Cantanti del genere che hai citato sono dei fuori classe. Mango è qualcosa di raro.
