The band's launch was an immediate success with the covers of "Pavasariniai žiedai" (Spring Blossoms) and "Svetimi" (Strangers). Mango continued to achieve impressive milestones throughout their career, releasing nine albums that collectively sold over 310,000 copies. The band was recognized as the Band of the Year by Radiocentras Awards in 2000 and 2001 and by Bravo Awards in 2000.
In 2004, Mango faced a significant change when Asta Bridikytė left the group and was replaced by Lina Kaklytė. Despite the change, the band continued to produce music and entertain their audience. However, in 2007, Mango announced their retirement after releasing their third compilation of their best songs. They embarked on a farewell tour across Lithuania, including special appearances for Lithuanian communities in England, Ireland, and the United States. The final concert took place on March 31, 2008, at Šiauliai Arena, bringing an end to the band's ten-year career.
In 2014, Mango singer Rima Petrauskytė-Paulauskienė and the Bendžius brothers reunited MANGO with new members and continued releasing music under the new name "MAN-GO". Their return was a welcome development for their fans who had missed their music.
In 2018, Mango reached a significant milestone - their 20th anniversary in the Lithuanian music industry. This was a remarkable achievement for the band, and to commemorate the occasion, they released their 11th studio album, "2020". The album was an embodiment of Mango's signature sound, combining traditional Lithuanian folk music with contemporary pop beats and lyrics that celebrated love, life, and the human experience. "2020" was met with widespread acclaim from Mango's loyal fanbase and music critics alike, cementing the band's position as one of the most influential and enduring acts in Lithuanian music history.
Mango is also the stage name of a popular italian singer, born in Lagonegro, in Southern Italy (6 November 1954 – 8 December 2014). He was known for his style which fuses pop, rock, folk, world music and for his extensive vocal range. He is best known for the song "Oro", from his 1986 breakout album release Odissea. Other hits include "Lei verrà", "Mediterraneo", "Bella d'estate", "Amore per te", "Come Monnalisa", "Nella mia città" and "La rondine".
Mango has been defined by Italian music author Mario Luzzatto Fegiz as an "authentic innovator of Italian pop music" and AllMusic considers him an "Italian rock fusion innovator". He wrote songs for Italian artists such as Patty Pravo, Loredana Bertè, Andrea Bocelli, Mietta. Part of his repertoire was performed by Italian and foreign musicians, including Mina, Mia Martini, Leo Sayer, Hélène Ségara and Eleftheria Arvanitaki.
Sirtaki
Mango Lyrics

mi hai perso un po'
ma quanto io non lo non so.....
soltanto un poco
spero sia poco
e non di piu?
io ti ho cambiato
un po' ti ho consumato
ti fonde
poi tu comprendi
e ti riprendi
se il tempo c'e?
ma questo sirtaki
danzalo se appena ti riesce
il limite lo sai e' il nostro amore
provaci tu
provaci anche tu
per favore
il pianto tu lo sai puo' asciugare
fallo se vuoi
meglio se puoi
con piu' amore
io ti ho scolpito
io ti ho disegnato
ma adesso dimmi chi sei
chi sei....
ed io chi sono
l'uomo che sono io non lo so
ma questo sirtaki
danzalo se appena ti riesce
il limite lo sai e' il nostro amore
provaci tu
provaci anche tu
per favore
il pianto tu lo sai puo' asciugare
fallo se vuoi
meglio se puoi
con piu' amore
The lyrics to Mango's song Sirtaki are introspective and reflective, contemplating the nature of love and relationships. The opening lines express a sense of loss and uncertainty, with the singer acknowledging that they have lost something, but they do not know how much. They express hope that it is only a little and not more than that. The following lines suggest that the singer has changed their partner somewhat, "consumed" them in a way, but they acknowledge that life is confusing and that sometimes people fuse together and then have to take a step back to understand themselves. The notion of time is introduced as a factor that can facilitate this process of understanding and reflection.
The chorus introduces the titular dance, the sirtaki, as a symbol of the couple's love. The singer encourages their partner to dance the sirtaki, suggesting that it is a way to test and strengthen their love. The limit of their love is the boundary against which they can test themselves. The singer urges their partner to try, to cry if they need to, and to do it with more love. The lines "io ti ho scolpito, io ti ho disegnato, ma adesso dimmi chi sei, chi sei..." reinforce the sense of introspection and suggest that the singer is not only trying to understand their partner, but also themselves.
