The End of Messiah
Maniac Butcher Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

...master of cripples
King of weaklings,
By rights condemned to cross,
He will bear it and be put to death on it...

...king of terrestrial rabble
Is going to death,
Oh, christian riff-raff
Reflect upon the burden of the cross...

...rotten legs sink
And rise again - stimulated by whip,
They put the thorn-crown on his head,
Blood and brain flow out from stabs...

...they put him upon the cross,
Pierce his limbs by spikes,
Bleed him by pike in his side,
Suck the poor life from his poor body...

...floks of crows pecked out the eyes,
Brain and blood flowed out,
Flies laid the eggs into the tlesh,
Hyenas tore out the limbs...

...eaten out skull rolled down to the feet,
Skeleton without flesh flashed under the sun,

Then the bones spilled, whitened
And turned in the dust...

Overall Meaning

The lyrics describe the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, but with a highly cynical and brutal tone. The first stanza depicts Christ as a weak and helpless figure, who is doomed to carry and die on the cross. The second stanza addresses the audience, Christians, and mockingly refers to them as "riff-raff" and "terrestrial rabble". The lyrics then descend into graphic detail, describing the physical pain and suffering inflicted upon Christ during the crucifixion. The third and fourth stanza describe the physical torture of being nailed to the cross, and the fifth and sixth stanza describe the aftermath of Christ's death, including the decay and desecration of his body.

It's worth mentioning that Maniac Butcher is a controversial and extreme metal band with a history of promoting white supremacy and neo-Nazism. This song was released on their album "Barbarians" in 2005, and some have interpreted the lyrics as an attack on Christianity and an attempt to glorify violence and brutality.
