Carol Of The Bells
Mannheim Steamroller Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Hark how the bells
Sweet silver bells
All seem to say
Throw cares away
Christmas is here
Bringing good cheer
To young and old
Meek and the bold
Oh how they pound
Raising the sound
O'er hill and dale
Telling their tale
Gaily they ring
While people sing
Songs of good cheer
Christmas is here
Merry, merry, merry, merry Christmas
Merry, merry, merry, merry Christmas
On on they send
On without end

Their joyful tone to every home
Dong ding dong ding, dong bong

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Mannheim Steamroller’s “Carol of the Bells” are a joyful and exciting invitation to celebrate the arrival of Christmas. The opening lines, “Hark how the bells, sweet silver bells, all seem to say, throw cares away,” convey a sense of joyousness, signaling the arrival of Christmas, which brings with it a release from worries, troubles and anxieties. The following lines, “Christmas is here, bringing good cheer, to young and old, meek and the bold,” establish that Christmas is a time of universal celebration that brings people together, regardless of their age, social status, or personality. The bells, as they ring and pound, and their sound resonates over hill and dale, are seen as storytellers that spread joy and happiness, like messengers announcing the arrival of something special. The last lines, “on on they send, on without end, their joyful tone to every home, dong ding dong ding, dong bong,” suggest that the good cheer and the joyful spirit of Christmas will continue unabated, sending its happy message to every home and every heart.

Believe me or not I actually searched this song! I was at one of those super cool christmas light shows and there was a certain station that would flow perfectly with the lights! I think the song is incredible and kinda underrated!

I have never met a version of Carol of the bells that I didn't like and this one is no exception. I always enjoy it when it comes on the radio around Christmas time.

Tim Ruskowski

Heard this for the first time on the radio today. Sounds so cool!

Yes! Yes! Yeesss! At last I have found the version that I have been looking for. After looking for Trans-Siberian and Mettalica's version of this, I said there is one more orchestra to look up; Mannheim Steamroller, and here it is. Awesome!!

@Skittles & Phinninix It's*

Nate Roe

Just so you know, those were both Trans-Siberian. That person just straight-up lied and said it was Metallica, and it pisses me off that it's STILL not taken down because it keeps misleading people

@Skittles & Phinninix Do you mean It's????
