About name
La Mano Negra ("The Black Hand") was a supposed anarchist organization in Andalucía, Spain, accused of many terrorist acts. Although, in latter studies, its existence was found unlikely and was probably an excuse used by the government under Sagasta to oppress anarchist activity in southern Spain.

The lyrics of Mano Negra's song "Sueño de Solentiname" describe a dream (sueño) the singer experienced, in which they saw various locations and experiences throughout Latin America. The singer dreams of places like Potosí, Guanajuato, Guatemala, and Panama, but also dreams of palm trees, madness, fear, and looting. The dream also includes symbols like the cross, the flag, the plague, and the skull.
Throughout the song, the singer asks the "querido mundo" (dear world) to relieve them from this dream of Solentiname. Solentiname was a real-life community of artists in Nicaragua in the 1970s, and the dream could represent the singer's fear of political oppression and violence. The song also references the Gringo, the executioner, disdain, and shame, wealth and poverty, and historical figures like Torquemada and Sepulveda. The singer admits they will never become accustomed to the horrors they have witnessed, and plead for relief from this dream.
The song speaks to the pain and fear that many people in Latin America have experienced throughout history. It is a cry for help and a call for change, encapsulating the turmoil and oppression the region has suffered.
