1) Is a project by Martin Schindler founded on or about 1997 which disbanded in 2005 but reunited in 2008. Both Martin Schindler and Tina Schindler are also active in electro act Black Heaven and metal outfit Sepia.
The band's name derives from Roman and Etruscan mythology, where Mantus and his wife, Mania were gods of the underworld. They were associated with the city Mantua. Mantus was identified as the "leader of souls", escorting the souls of the dead down into the underworld.
As already said, Mantus is a project by Martin Schindler. But his idea of dark romance only could have been realised by alternating singing of female and male voices. That's why he involved his sister always named as Thalia, which is certainly not her real name.
So the alternating female/male-singing is one incisive aspect of Mantus' musical appearance. Overall the style of the music ranges doom-metal to some kind of pop. The texts contain themes like love, hate, death, perpetuity or immortality but also criticism on global problems as racism, xenophobia and rape.
The reason for their minor popularity in spite of existing for 8 years and releasing 6 albums is that they never gave concerts or appeared in the charts (they never had any ambitions, too).

Ich schließe meine Augen
Dort wo die Einsamkeit zerbricht
Kann ich an etwas glauben
Und draußen wird es langsam hell
Der Tag erwacht zum Leben
Es gibt nur diesen Augenblick
Und du bist hier, bei mir...
Und du bist hier, bei mir...
So vieles konnte ich nicht erkennen
So vieles schien verloren
Ein großer Teil der Wahrheit liegt
Im Augenblick verborgen
The lyrics to Mantus's song "Bei mir" express the feeling of finding comfort in the presence of someone amidst the chaos and confusion of life. The singer describes the stillness and peace that comes from being in the company of this person, as if the loneliness and despair that once seemed insurmountable have been shattered. The lyrics are introspective, musing on the fleeting nature of time and the uncertainty of the future. Despite this, the singer finds solace in the present moment and their ability to believe in something.
As the sun rises and the day begins anew, the singer reflects on the transience of life and the significance of the present moment. They wonder whether they will experience another moment like this, where they feel truly alive and connected to someone else. The refrain "Und du bist hier, bei mir..." ("And you are here, with me...") is repeated throughout the song, emphasizing the importance of this person's presence in the singer's life. The final verse suggests that there is a hidden truth in the present moment that cannot be fully understood or appreciated. It is perhaps only by living in the moment and cherishing the people we are with that we can hope to uncover this truth.
Overall, "Bei mir" is a song that celebrates the power of human connection and the comfort that comes from being in the presence of someone who understands and supports us.
