1) Is a project by Martin Schindler founded on or about 1997 which disbanded in 2005 but reunited in 2008. Both Martin Schindler and Tina Schindler are also active in electro act Black Heaven and metal outfit Sepia.
The band's name derives from Roman and Etruscan mythology, where Mantus and his wife, Mania were gods of the underworld. They were associated with the city Mantua. Mantus was identified as the "leader of souls", escorting the souls of the dead down into the underworld.
As already said, Mantus is a project by Martin Schindler. But his idea of dark romance only could have been realised by alternating singing of female and male voices. That's why he involved his sister always named as Thalia, which is certainly not her real name.
So the alternating female/male-singing is one incisive aspect of Mantus' musical appearance. Overall the style of the music ranges doom-metal to some kind of pop. The texts contain themes like love, hate, death, perpetuity or immortality but also criticism on global problems as racism, xenophobia and rape.
The reason for their minor popularity in spite of existing for 8 years and releasing 6 albums is that they never gave concerts or appeared in the charts (they never had any ambitions, too).

Und sie hüllt dein Gesicht
In ein dunkles Licht
Die Stille dringt tief in uns ein
Wir haben keine Angst,
haben keine Angst
Am Himmel zieht der stolze Mond
Und das woran wir stets geglaubt
Es bricht heute entzwei
Und wir gleiten an der Welt entlang
Bis die Zeit verrinnt
Und wir tanzen in den Untergang
Bis die Nacht erklingt
Wir haben nicht viel zu verlieren
Und sind auf uns gestellt
Wenn alles nun zerfällt
Und es gibt nichts mehr zu verzeihen
Wir bleiben ganz allein,
bleiben ganz allein
The song "Untergang" by Mantus seems to be an introspective and deeply emotional reflection on the passing of time and the inevitability of death. The lyrics paint a haunting picture of a twilight setting, with the darkness enveloping the singer's face and soul, and the silence penetrating deeply within. However, there is no fear in the singer's heart as he dances towards his own demise, accepting his fate and enjoying the fleeting moments of life.
The imagery of the proud moon passing by silently in the sky emphasizes the insignificance of human existence in the grand scheme of things. The chorus reveals the singer's ultimate philosophy of life, that there is not much to lose in this world, and everything is transitory. People have to rely on themselves and accept the life that fate has given them, without regrets or hopes for forgiveness.
Overall, "Untergang" can be interpreted as a melancholic yet freeing ode to the human condition, where we are all doomed to meet our end, but can still enjoy the ride and dance through the night until it ends.

Wir haben keine Angst, haben keine Angst
