Manzanita, emerged as a guitarist in Peru at the end of the 1960s, when the country's Chicha craze was at its peak. in 1967 he founded Los Pachas before he went to lead his own group Manzanita Y Su Conjunto.
His new group started out on Alberto Maravi's DInsa label. such as his 1970 debut album "Arre Caballito". While still under contract at Dinsa he recorded a number of EPs for Infopesa under the name El Monje Loco.
In 1973 he switched to Virrey, for which he released two albums, "El Nuevo Sonido De Manzanita" (1973) and "Manzaneando Con Manzanita" (1974). After that his career gradually faded, releasing one more album in 1982. "El Retorno De Manzanita".
