Yo
María Barracuda Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
por eso puedo ser quien soy,
si alguien pudiera oirme,
saldría corriendo de su vista
Aquí en mi mundo no hace falta nada,
solo estoy yo diciéndome frases de amor.
No voy a sabotear mi felicidad.
Tengo algo de verdad.
Yo soy de verdad.
Me gusta ver el techo,
imaginar de todo un poco,
la vida es un examen que hay que reprobar,
hay que participar.
Hoy tengo..
Yo soy de verdad (x3)
He estado volando de aquí para allá,
ya no puedo parar,
el ego se me está alterando,
la lucidez flaqueando,
¿cómo, cómo hago?
Aquí en mi mundo no hace falta ya nada,
solo estoy yo, yo.
In María Barracuda's song "Yo" ("I"), the lyrics convey a sense of self-awareness, empowerment, and the importance of staying true to oneself. The opening lines, "Sé que nadie me mira, por eso puedo ser quien soy" (I know no one is watching me, that's why I can be who I am), highlight the freedom and authenticity that comes when we believe no one is judging us. The singer expresses that if someone could hear her thoughts, she would run away from their sight, emphasizing her need for solitude and self-reflection.
The chorus, "Aquí en mi mundo no hace falta nada, solo estoy yo diciéndome frases de amor" (Here in my world, nothing else is needed, it's just me telling myself phrases of love), signifies the singer's contentment and self-sufficiency. She finds joy in her own company and is embracing self-love. She acknowledges that she doesn't need anything else to validate herself; the only voice that matters is her own.
The verses touch on themes of self-discovery and personal growth. The line "La vida es un examen que hay que reprobar, hay que participar" (Life is an exam that we must fail, we must participate) suggests that life is a continuous learning process, and making mistakes is a necessary part of our journey. The singer recognizes the importance of actively engaging in life despite the fear of failure.
Overall, "Yo" celebrates individuality, self-acceptance, and the power of embracing oneself without seeking approval from others. It encourages listeners to appreciate their own worth and find happiness within themselves.
