The Time to Sleep
Marble Sounds Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You're falling in a lower gear
A little rest is what you need
You're rolled up on the seat
Your arms around your knees

We met by chance, talked on the phone
We kept in touch
I took you home
Sure, it proves we get along
And it will only get better from now on

We found a place to which we drive
And i offer you the time
To sleep - to dream
To wake up when we arrive

Right moments come out of the blue
But when there's one it's up to you

Even when the time was up I couldn't stop
I was floating all day long

Overall Meaning

The lyrics in Marble Sounds' song "The Time to Sleep" seems to be about someone who is physically and mentally exhausted and needs to take a break. The first few lines talk about the person falling into a "lower gear," meaning that they are slowing down and taking a break from their fast-paced life. The lyrics proceed to describe the person sitting in their car with their arms around their knees, waiting to rest a little.

The song then goes into storytelling about how the singer in the song and someone else met by chance, and how they kept in touch until the singer took the other person home. The relationship seems to be going well, as the singer states that they get along and that it will only get better from now on. The singer then offers to take the other person to a place where they can sleep, dream and wake up while they arrive.

The last lines of the song reinforce the thought of taking a break and enjoying life's beauty that sometimes comes out of nowhere. The singer mentions that even when the time was up, she couldn't stop and was floating all day long. This suggests that although the break was over, the singer is still enjoying the moment and is not rushing back to the fast-paced life they were leading before.

Overall, the song seems to be about taking a break from everything and enjoying the beauty around you. It encourages listeners to slow down, relax and take life as it comes.

This reminds me,
about doing what "YOU" Love,

Just go and do it,
focus on that one thing,
you will definitely grow,

It does not matter the talent,
the will to grow the mind,
is a wondrous thing,

so... this is beautiful,
as he sings;
"Time to sleep,"

I think all humans on this planet can awaken,
and live life to feel truly alive.

Love this song,

People are the universe,
our cosmos run stellar deep
and whether you believe in the soul/ spirit, mind or heart,
We are all people,
somehow..
connected to the bigger picture we never get to see in our mortal lives

until -
the end of the road and even in next life.
and when that time comes,

only then, will we see it all,
and know the truths we seek,
whatever that may be.

Just discovered this song about an hour ago. As an insomniac with C-PTSD trying to get to sleep this song is a comfort, something truly special. Brought me to tears. Thank you.

It's kind of sad most people don't know about this kind of music. I honestly don't know where I'd be without this.

I just rediscovered this song. I used to listen to it repeatedly in my youth. Such a nostalgic feeling to listen to the melody and lyrics

Marble sounds has gotten me through so much in my life. I was a homeless heroin addict and had lost everything... one day I was at the library trying to stay warm and somehow came across "Time to Sleep" ...

I don't know what it was but it gave me a new perspective.... I checked into rehab that very day 8 years ago and I've been clean ever since. ...Music is such an amazing medium and without it I'd be so lost.
I look for their tour dates all the time and wish I could go to a show to support them...to give back to them what they gave me;

A beginning to a new life... but... I don't think they have been to the States. If I ever get the chance to go to Europe that's the first thing I would plan things around....A show to see my favorite band to thank them for saving my life in an indirect way.
