Marc Anthony Lyrics

Fiestas, y nadie pregunta si sufro, si lloro, si tengo
Siguen mi canción voy a brindar
Baila si quieres bailar, canta si quieres cantar mama
The song "El Cantante" by Marc Anthony is a tribute to the legendary salsa singer Héctor Lavoe. The lyrics are in the voice of Lavoe himself, as if he were addressing his audience, introducing his performance and explaining the duality of his life as a performer and a regular person. Lavoe, known as "El Cantante de los Cantantes," was known for his charismatic stage presence and powerful vocals, but his personal life was often marked by tragedy, including drug addiction and the loss of family members to violence.
The opening lyrics introduce Lavoe as the "singer" that the audience has come to hear, promising to deliver the best of his repertory. Throughout the song, Lavoe reflects on the challenges of his life in the public eye, including the scrutiny of his personal life and the pressure to be a constant source of entertainment for his fans. He acknowledges that his life is not always easy, but he is able to find joy in sharing his music with others.
One of the most powerful lines in the song is "Sino me quieren en vida cuando muera no me lloren" ("If you don't love me in life, don't mourn me when I die"). This line speaks to Lavoe's struggles with depression and addiction, and his awareness that his legacy may not be fully appreciated until after his death. The song ends on a hopeful note, encouraging the audience to dance, sing, and forget their troubles while celebrating the power of music.
