Y he prometido cuidarla
Y he prometido cuidarla

The song Flor Pálida is a love song with a poignant message about taking care of a wilted flower that the singer stumbles upon on his path. He brings the forlorn flower to his garden and nurtures it back to its former glory, using his love and constant care to revive its colors and beauty. The lyrics talk about how the flower was almost lifeless before it came into his possession but now, the singer has promised to protect it and keep it safe so that it can never lose its charm again. The way the singer speaks about the flower is like it is a metaphor for a relationship that he had lost and found again. He vows to keep it close and maintain its vibrancy.
The lyrics are open to interpretation, and it appears like Marc Anthony sings about how he lost someone he loved, and how he managed to bring it back with his love, attention, and care. The theme is love, heartfelt and ambitious, committed to holding on to an item of value and protecting it from any possible harm. It speaks volumes about the importance of love and nurturing to mend what was once lost.

Hallé una flor
I found a flower
Un día en el camino
One day on the road
Que apareció marchita y deshojada
It appeared withered and leafless
Ya casi pálida, ahogada en un suspiro
Almost pale, drowned in a sigh
I took it to my garden to take care of it
Aquella flor de pétalos dormidos
That flower with sleeping petals
That I care for today with all my soul
Recuperó el color que había perdido
Regained the color it had lost
Porque encontró un cuidador que la regara
Because it found a caretaker to water it
Le fui poniendo un poquito de amor
I kept giving it a little bit of love
La fui abrigando en mi alma
I kept it warm in my soul
Y en el invierno le daba calor
And in winter I gave it warmth
Para que no se dañara
So it wouldn't be damaged
Today I am the owner of that flower
Y he prometido cuidarla
And I have promised to take care of it
Para que nadie le robe el color
So that no one steals its color
Para que nunca se vaya
So that it never goes away
De aquella flor surgieron tantas cosas
So many things came from that flower
Love that was lost one day was born
Y con la luz del sol se fue la sombra
And with the sunlight, the shadow went away
And with the shadow, the distance and the oblivion
(Para que nunca se vaya)
(So that it never goes away)
(Para que nunca se vaya)
(So that it never goes away)
(Para que nunca se vaya)
(So that it never goes away)
(Para que nunca se vaya)
(So that it never goes away)
I kept giving it affection, a little bit of love (so that it never goes away)
And in the winter, my garden is full of color (so that it never goes away)
Oh, when I saw it, I fell in love and took it with me, took it with me
