Love Won't Get Any Better
Marc Anthony Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Oh girl, I must admit that this is new to me
And I never thought that love could come so easily
'Til you opened up my eyes to how it's supposed to be
I'd never known love to be so pure and gentle
In all I've seen love was quite this simple
It was for me so lonely and so temperamental
Kissing you makes me wonder how I lived without it
Wanting you is as natural as natural can be
Love won't get any better
Finally I hold my head up high 'cause you belong to me
And I'm catching myself smiling over everything
You should know that I am proud to have you next to me
I'd never known love to be so pure and gentle
In all I've seen love was never quite this simple
It was for me lonely and so temperamental
Holding you is the safest place no doubt about it
Kissing you makes me wonder how I lived without it
Wanting you is as natural as natural can be
Love won't get any better
Girl I'm in love with you
I live to kiss and touch you
I always knew
You'd be the one to run to
I'd say I do
And girl you know I'd mean it
'Cause having you, living you, trusting you
Is all I want to do
In these lyrics, Marc Anthony expresses his realization of what true love is like, and how this newfound love has transformed him. He admits how surprised he is that love can come so easily, and how he had never experienced pure and gentle love until he met this person. Holding this person is the safest place for him, kissing them makes him realize how he lived without it, and wanting them is as natural as it could be.
Anthony then declares his love for this person, and how he always knew that they were the one he would run to. He wants to be with them forever and is proud to have them next to him. He concludes by stating that having, living and trusting them is all he wants to do. The song portrays a beautiful and simple love that is easy to understand and appreciate.
Overall, this song is a tender tribute to a newfound love that has transformed the singer's life. The song appreciates and cherishes the simple and the pure love that one can feel for someone else.
